For someone who uses parallel effects loops, this is a huge disappointment for me, and I think a big oversight.
I wanted to run it parallel to my dry/fuzz signal so then I could hold something and futz with it with my HOG and other effects while I play unfutzed with clean stuff at the same time.
Phase cancel your dry signal with the output of the Freeze.
ChumleyParticipant[electronics snob] IC based delays are just no good. If you MUST use solid state, at least use discreet components… Also, whether or not there’s AD/DAs in the signal chain, the digital components will introduce clocking artifacts, and that’s just indecent. If I were you guys, I’d get a tape delay, and leave it at that. [/electronics snob]
I got a MB yesterday, and I couldn’t be happier with it. Strangely, I’m using it almost more for vibrato and chorus than I am for standard delay, but it sounds BEAUTIFUL either way. 8D
ChumleyParticipantYou guys are thinking mono in/stereo out. I think what OP was talking about was stereo in/stereo out. That way, you could put a stereo chorus pedal, or stereo reverb, before your distortion and keep it in stereo. Also, you could cascade them into each other…
ChumleyParticipantWhat did Tubular Bells have to do with Halloween? I dunno. But it was still badass.
ChumleyParticipantThe obvious controls would be Notch, Resonance, and Blend. Perhaps an 0.5 ms to 20 ms range on the delay, allowing you to get slapback sounds? Perhaps they could throw in a bandpass filter in the feedback loop, to give more tone control. An exp input for either the BP frequency or delay time would be excellent.

Except for the BMP. You wouldn’t dare cancel the classic box BMP.
October 4, 2009 at 12:28 am in reply to: Some ideas: Big Muff Deluxe, Macrosynth, Resonator, and FreqOut #102017ChumleyParticipantIt’s cool. I’m just sayin, for those of us who’d rather shell out $200 and be done with it than buy 3 Big Muffs, install tone bypass, wicker, and voltage limiter mods, and still not be done, it’d be nice.
October 2, 2009 at 11:03 pm in reply to: Some ideas: Big Muff Deluxe, Macrosynth, Resonator, and FreqOut #102001ChumleyParticipantWell, the dealie with the Big Muff Deluxe (I’m aware of the DBM) is that there are so many options avaliable with the pedal that a) it can replace most of the dirt boxes on your board and b) you can get lots of different sounds without having to twist knobs on stage. For instance, here are some sounds avaliable from the BMD that aren’t exactly easy to switch between:
-A typical dimed tone USA Muff Sound
-A 60s Germanium-ish fuzz
-A Metal distortion
-A bluesy overdrive
-A Classic Rock distortion toneEach of those would require different knob positions and different switch selections. Presets aren’t essential, CERTAINLY don’t change the tone (it’s just another step between the knobs and pots. The sound remains completely analog) but remain quite useful.
As to the Macrosynth, I did mention a HOG sized box…
The Resonator would be a great pedal: resonation is a really cool, underused effect. Now that the Holiest Grail is gone, there aren’t any EH pedals with the capability.
The FreqOut, of course, would find a home amongst the Frequency Analyzer’s legion of fans.September 30, 2009 at 12:19 am in reply to: Ideas for the next batch of diecast RI pedals and possible EHX pedals of the future. #101907ChumleyParticipantWould indeed be awesome.

Lucky bastards…
September 10, 2009 at 2:51 am in reply to: which one should I get: the riddle or the memory boy? #101335ChumleyParticipantLet me put it this way. I tried out both of them at my friendly local music store as soon as they were released. The staff in both cases hadn’t heard the pedals prior. In both cases, they were blown away by the awesome. But two of them actually got into a fight over who got to buy the MB first.
ChumleyParticipantOr an OM, Muff, and Green Wringer.
ChumleyParticipantFB control would be a lot more useful than speed, to be quite honest… listen to the introduction of the Proguitarshop demo of the Seymour Duncan Deja Vu. You’ll see what I mean.
ChumleyParticipantTHAT explains why The Mars Volta are so silly looking in concert…
ChumleyParticipantOnly the SEM, DEM, FH, and PC. Not very many at all. ;P
