Burning ManParticipant
Me too.
Looks a nice RI.When it’ll be in South America?
Burning ManParticipantQuote:Had any problems? Mine really was a piece of cake. Not for now.
I repaired the FM switch (it seems the previous owner was a beast), and mod to TBP.
But I hear it different from the demos; I’ll send soon to EHX’s technics to re-calibrate.Burning ManParticipantQuote:Yeah a lot of people think that it’s risky making any modifications but there are resources on the net that specify the function of every trimpot inside all models of the DEM except for the new one. As long as the instructions are followed and you can make the adjustments “live” there really aren’t any worries.http://www.metzgerralf.de/elekt/stomp/mistress/align.shtml#4
That’s the same instructions/website that I used to re-calibrate

I think I’ll keep it.I replaced my XO with the previous version. However, I actually had to open it and adjust the range of the sweep. Now that it’s working as it should (except for the volume drop) I wish I’d tried doing this on the XO. It’s NOT as complicated as it’s made out to be however it will void your warranty. ALWAYS make a tick with a Sharpie so you can set things back if it doesn’t work out. Having it plugged in and using a non-conductive screwdriver or alternative tool will ensure no accidental short circuits or electric shocks while making adjustments. This just goes to show that not every item that leaves the factory is calibrated the same (as they should be!) The old, “Well they’re analog” excuse is just that – an excuse for sub par quality control.
Perhaps sometime in the future I’ll give the XO a try again but tweak it. Mine had so many inconsistencies it was ridiculous.
I’ll keep it, for the old good days
I really don’t recommend at all tweak the trimpots.
The previous owner tweaked the trimpots and didn’t mark on it (was a really pain in the ass back this pedal to life).I have to confess: I’m using a MXR Flanger.
DEM is unique, but the MXR is infinitely flexible.Burning ManParticipantI own a big one many years ago and was thinking to switch to one of this (small size, 9v, you know…).
I think I’ll keep it.Burning ManParticipantQuote:Passive.From the manual:
EXP. PEDAL Jack — Allows the musician to control any of the four available expression modes with an optional expression pedal or control voltage. The expression pedal should have a Tip-Ring-Sleeve plug attached to it. It is important that the expression pedal have the correct polarity. The tip of the plug must be connected to the wiper of the potentiometer inside the expression pedal. If you are not sure what type of expression pedal to use, try to purchase one with a polarity switch so that it will work with many different types of instruments. Some suggested Expression Pedals: M-Audio EX-P, Moog EP-2, Roland EV-5 or Boss FV-500L. You may also connect a control voltage to this jack. The Control Voltage range must be 0 V to 5 V.
Following these, I could solve what I thought was a pedal problem.
Burning ManParticipantOk, this was fast
Reading the users manual, I found:

I took an old Hot Potz (Cry Baby), and soldered a stereo plug (following the manual indications).
The expression functions work great! It seems that the problem was the tip connection.
Burning ManParticipantThe official service here is worse than throw the pedal to the trash: at least that way I don’t spend more money and discuss with useless technicians.
I sent a email to EHX’s technical support: maybe it’s an internal trimpot, or something simple.
Burning ManParticipantI’m in Argentina, send it to them is too much expensive!
Did you buy another DMB?Burning ManParticipantYou can try using a volume pedal inside the pedal loop.
I have the DMB, I use a BD2 there to boost and lo-fi saturated repeats.Burning ManParticipantI have the same problem.
Any idea? -
