BrianzeroParticipant
So any luck there Dean with the noise??
BrianzeroParticipantHi Dean
Yes I noticed this with mine. First noticed it when I played thro headphones, just the blackfinger nothing else. There is this low audible sort of buzz/hiss following what you are plating. I didn’t notice it in the squash mode it was only present in the normal mode on lamp or led. I don’t really notice it while playing thro my amp at all. I did too change the valves it was negligible whether it made any difference. This was very quiet though, maybe not the same thing? Anyone else experience this
BrianzeroParticipantHi Spacelab,
well can’t say I have noticed this but its my guess that lamp, led and squash are all pre set circuits and when you add the compression to them then you get a compression in that mode. I find I have to adjust volumes in all three modes. But gotta say as a compressor, I love it.BrianzeroParticipantHi Axis
First off, welcome to the community here, a very mixed bunch with one thing in common, EHX ! Delays? There are so many but my two penny worth would be go get the Memory man with hazerai for the money its just unbeatable. Lots of delay settings, looping and reverse echo, I am still blown away by it. But others here will have different opinions and there own personal favorites. Try a few out before you part with your cash. Good luckBrianzeroParticipantThanks Jamie
Yes, mine isn;t distorting as such but has a very warm valve sound quite reedy if that description fits. Yes I love the vibrato section on it, the looz and ham settings sound very uni vibe to me, If I come across any lower gain valves I will try them and see what the difference is but I am quite happy with its sound at present, Great pedal
BrianzeroParticipantQuote:my wiggler made a distorted mess out of my signal. in the end I used a 12au7 tube in v1 (closest to input jack) and a 4024 in v2- the signal is perfect now, with the only distortion in the signal being what I dial in from other pedals or the amp.the 12au7 has a gain rating of 17 compared to the 12ax7’s rating of 100, so it took some serious power reduction to clean up the signal. I started with a 5751 and worked my way down to the 12au7.
v2 was still distorting with a 12ax7, and the 4024 (equivalent to a 12at7, gain factor of 60) was the first tube not to distort.
is there a calibration or biasing control inside the case, and the occasional Wiggler is too hot, or do they all double as distortion boxes?
anyway, my Wiggler sounds fantastic now.
Hi Jamie
Just wondered if you have to up the volume on the wiggler to get it to unity volume? , as you have replaced with lower gain valves. I must admit my wiggler is slightly edgy so I am interested in what you have done there.
November 7, 2010 at 4:29 pm in reply to: What Electro-Harmonix pedals are worth checking out right away? #112444BrianzeroParticipantI use my Blackfinger for lead work sometimes and find it fantastic. By just raising the output volume I can achieve a really warm, rich lead sound which will feed back and sustain, just wonderful if thats what you want.
BrianzeroParticipantThis does beg the question, is anybody from EHX reading the forum??? It seems not and it doesn’t bode well for customer care. Hhmmm
BrianzeroParticipantWelcome, just checked your site and your music, nice jazzy guitar.
September 13, 2010 at 4:31 pm in reply to: Iron Lung – pedal chain placement or amp FX loop? #111386BrianzeroParticipantWell, hope this will be of help. I run a JCM900 combo and my pedal board goes through my effects loop. All the pedals sound absolutely peachy.
September 8, 2010 at 6:57 am in reply to: Can you fix that loud airy hiss that the Micro Pog makes when it is engaged? #111304BrianzeroParticipantI would have it checked out if I was you. Maybe EHX are saying that the noise they refer to is the very low sound everybody else is saying is normal. It sounds like something is not quite right there
BrianzeroParticipantFantastic ! what a track, thank you
BrianzeroParticipantI have to say thats rather good !
BrianzeroParticipantQuote:Thanks for the vote of confidence Brianzero. You’ve sold me on the Wiggler also. I dare say, it will be the next pedal I purchase…
Do you use it for recording or just live? How do you find trying to sync it up with a tempo for recording?
I haven’t used it yet in recording but I use it live all the time. The syncing up you have to use your ear there is no other way. Just take a little time with it and you will soon familiarize yourself with the settings. The valves give it a really warm sound, very very nice.
BrianzeroParticipantI used to have a 1978 model (stupidly sold it). Two years ago bought the re issue, to be honest I can here no difference.
