cool man. switch lookd similar to what i usually see, but for whatever reason that ribbon cable had me all freaked out. spaghetti wires, no problem; tidy little ribbon, ahhhhhhhh!

Hey, I noticed that you had three “big muffs”, are those clones? Or are they the real vintage ones rehoused into newer cases? The reason I ask is because those are my favorite big muff versions, so I’m just curious. :P

yep, all clones. built from the specs on GGG’s site using 2n5089 transistors.

    1. stereo electric mistress
    2. small stone
    3. NYC BMP
    4. Q-tron+ (it’s broke)
    5. black russian BMP (modded)

i’ve also built 3 muffs (if that counts):

what-the-fuzz (offboard) -> skreddy mayo with boost (orange box) -> crybaby (modded with TB and a couple other tricks) -> gargletron -> BMP 1977 opamp -> BMP violet ram -> BMP ram’s head -> OCD -> black russian with tone mod/bypass -> duende/amz mini boost dual -> BYOC tremelo -> BYOC phaser -> killswitch (momentary)

the amp switch between the two i modded from a digital randall (5 pin) to an analog (TRS) since i have an older head

putting my 2 cents in: my former bass player had a green russian and that changed everything for me. i’m still trying to get that thing off him. in the mean time i’ve purchased a black russian (& modded the tone stack, including a bypass switch) & a NYC reissue. i’ve also built a ram’s head & violet rams head, an opamp version & the skreddy mayo (complete with an additional recovery stage as a boost). the reissue is the only one in my gigrig, but all of the other ones are on my ‘it’s friday lets just get drunk and jam’ board! so yes, that means that i could have 6 going at once.
