if there were a pedal like this – essentially a freeze pedal w/ a micro pog directly after it, but all in one enclosure – i’d buy it in a second (so long as it didn’t make the annoying high pitched sound that my freeze does).

i’ve used it w/ my guitar in drop d and it works fine for the most part (there is a buzz/noise problem that i haven’t been able to get rid of that doesn’t have to do w/ this), but i would definitely recommend putting it before your dirt or overdriven amp.

    anybody?

from searching on google, i see that i’m not the only hearing this same high pitched noise…

    hey
i’m using a freeze pedal and it’s making a strange very high pitched noise, around 15khz feeep. strangely it doesn’t always occur, it occurs when i run it with the original EHX power adaptor daisy chained with a Boss ME-50 multi FX, and then it was gone when I used seperate adaptors, but then it was there again when I used two separate adaptors for both pedals, when i used two original adaptors. I tried different adaptors, more than one original EHX 9,6V that is, and I never really got to a conclusion on where the problem really is.
it can be really disturbing when i run an acoustic guitar through the freeze and then a compressor, this will chase away all the dogs in the house… did anyone have similar problems, or is there a problem with my pedal?
    cheers

i’m having a very similar problem.
i have the freeze pedal in a chain before my line 6 DL4 which i’m using as a looper.
when i go to record a loop and then play it back, it will playback with this high pitched sound in the background. it took me a while to single out the culprit that was causing this (strangely, in my case the squeal is only really heard on playback of the loop), but i eventually figured out that if i took the freeze out of the chain, it would stop happening.
very disappointing (and frustrating!) since i was really starting to like this pedal.
oh and yes, i’ve been using the supplied power supply during this scenario.

any EHX tech folk out that have any comments/suggestions?

ok, if no one knows the exact replacement part for the micro pog potentiometers, can anyone at least tell me if this would work: http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_264402_-1

the ohm rating, taper, and type of shaft are the same, but how important is the watt rating of the potentiometer, since i can’t tell what it is on the original?

    nobody out there knows?

especially about the replacement potentiometer? i really need to fix this pedal since i use it a lot, and i’d rather not send it in since i can easily swap out a pot myself.

You would have to add some additional circuitry to do the actual switching.

would one of these work? or do i need something else?

i can’t just replace the switch like this guy did?

Any of those solutions should work. The Cathedral mod is different.

those kits will work even though the micropog is not a true bypass pedal?

probably just cheaper to get something like a DOD FX30B to use than to actually mod it.
although you’d lose the true bypass-ness.

because i’m trying not to add any more pedals (or additional looping/cabling) to my already overcrowded board.

i’ve been using it in ganged mode w/ the stock tubes, which works better than using a single channel, but just wondering if anyone’s swapped any tubes to good effect whether it be clean and chimey or heavy and overdriven…

    Quote:
I think you should try ganging before you try tube-swapping (heck it’s free!), just plug your guitar into the R channel, connect the R-output to the L-input, and L-output to the amp. Then, you can crank the R-channel and drop the L-volume to taste. Be careful, you can end up sending more signal than your amp can handle, so start with L-volume pretty low. This way, the L-volume acts like a master volume on a tube amp.

I’d be curious to see what tube-swapping can do, i’ve meant to do it, but never gotten around to it. Since it already had AX7-s in it, that’s as dirty as it’s going to sound, unless someone can recommend a different type of AX7, I don’t think tube swapping will do what you want (but it may do other cool things!).

    Hope that helps!

or can anyone relay any experiences at all that they’ve hAd with tube swaps w/ the LPB-2UBE, whether it be just a different brand/type of 12AX7/ECC83 tube, or a lower gain tube type such as a 5751, 12AT7, OR 12AY7?

The LPB has one knob. Its a volume knob. Turn it to zero and you will have no sound.
Its not an attenuator but you can turn it to zero yes.

ok, sounds like that will work for me, just wondering which position of the knob = no cut and no boost (ie. unity gain). anyone know?

It’s been a while since I used one but i’m pretty certain when you turn the knob to zero you get no sound at all, so the answer to the OP would be yes. (but i’m not 100% on that)

approximately where on the dial would be unity gain/volume?

still wondering about this since i’ve heard conflicting answers.

can the LPB-1 cut the incoming signal (to silence) as well as boost it?
