BlueSteelParticipantQuote:Quote:post a pic of your Hondo II. Is it one of the millions of bolt on LP copies they made in endless variations?
It’s more like a Les Paul Jr knock off, but certainly bolt on. I’ll see about getting a pic up.
You definitely need to post a pic if its something like a les paul jr.!!!!

EVEN THOUGH I HATE THEMWhy do you hate them?
BlueSteelParticipantQuote:Why am I the only dude here that uses the handy poll system?! Ha, nobody prefers digital because it is a tone killer!i was actually about to make a poll right now.
BlueSteelParticipantI’m pretty sure john frusciante uses some sort of ehx pedal on “The Empyrean”. He probably uses one of the holy grail reverb pedals in his song “Central” because there is a ton of reverb and i know he has one on his pedalboard.

It will be fun, but empty.Smash your first guitar? Don’t do it!! My first guitar sucks too but its your first and its sort of special, you know.

btw if i am in a band and stuff, i probably would smash a guitar too, but not a really expensive guitar.
What kind of mess did i start….

It may not be cool to smash your guitar per se, but it is definitely cooler than wiping your guitar down with a diaper and fast fret stuff.I know, I hate those pricks that feel the need to wipe their guitar down every time they play it. If you play a guitar often and outside of your house, then it will get dirty, dinged, chipped, and scratched. Personaly I like the look of an aged guitar (not the fake relic crap, the real thing). That “fast fret” stuff is also a joke. I reckon that my frets are as fast as I want them to be without the aid of cleaning.
Exactly, i love how vintage guitars look with their chipped paint and how you can see the wood, it makes it more unique than if it is new with perfect paint, because then they all look the same.

Watching Pete Townsend and Jimi destroy guitars did more for my desire to rock than anyone handing me a guitar when I was a kid. I mean that’s cool too. I just gave an old Ibanez to my 13 year old nephew. But even though he asked for it, he won’t be into it until he sees someone do something with the guitar that ignites his passion in the same way, maybe smashing it, maybe by doing something crazy, like playing it well.I’ll settle for this. It may not be cool to smash your guitar per se, but it is definitely cooler than wiping your guitar down with a diaper and fast fret stuff.
Well i think if you light a guitar on fire, and you could still use it then thats fine, i know someone who lit their strat on fire and it looks really cool, it adds more character to it, but when you smash it to a hundred pieces, then its useless and what do u get out of it? nothing except for one less guitar and wasted money.

Guitars are like eggs in that way: Some will grow to be chickens, some will be broken along the way. Either way, delicious. And either way, I eat it up. :metal:I tend to disagree with guitar smashing. There’s never a reason to need to smash it. If you’re tired of it, don’t like it, or its failed you in someway and you don’t want to keep it, why not give it to a kid? Some kids can’t afford to buy a guitar, or even get anything decent. Think of the Karma of passing on the gift of music.
I would like to disagree with it, but unfortunatly seeing Pete Townsend smashing guitars is probably the single most powerful and exciting thing I’ve ever seen anyone do on a stage….that’s good enough reason for me….there’s a little montage towards the end of ‘the kids are alright’ where they’ve cut together Pete smashing about 20 guitars, I know it’s effecting me at a very base level of my emotion spectrum, but I can’t deny it’s totally absorbing and thrilling to watch and hear.
I disagree with you. I saw an interview with john frusciante from back around the mother’s milk tour and he was talking about how he smashed his $1000 strat because he was angry with anthony. If you paid that much money for it, why just smash it to pieces if you could use it to make music? Especially if its a vintage guitar.

I believe it was a Right handed one but it was reversed and they actually routed for a new pickguard. But then someone else turned it back into a righty and filled in the old routing. There was some other horrid stuff done to it, it just made me sad. That said, I’d still rock it. Even the most abused guitars need love.
I hate when people mess whith guitars like that.
it also makes me very sad everytime i see a guitar get smashed.
BlueSteelParticipantI dont know what the difference is, it could just be a different name that they had for it. It looks the same as the ones that say full chorus though.
BlueSteelParticipantQuote:The best way to solve this problem would be to keep your tone pure and not use any effects. I would do the same, but I just can’t part with my wah and fuzz quite yet. I’ve kicked the modulation and delay addiction, so that’s a plus. How can you say not to use effects pedals when this is a forum for effects pedals?
It just doesnt make sense.
BlueSteelParticipantQuote:Yeah, a muff at low gain is a total waste IMO, I always have the gain on full.I always have mine at close to all the way up, or like 3 o’clock.
BlueSteelParticipantQuote:I prefer analogue, it just seems to have more character since there’s nothing more than the electronic properties of the components shaping the sound – you’ll never get 2 identical sounding units because no 2 components will work exactly the same, if you know what i’m saying. Just these subtle things make all the difference to me.Thats why i like analog, because every pedal is unique like that and they all sound different, sort of.
BlueSteelParticipanttry looking on ebay, im sure there are some there.
