I think the DS1 from Boss is a great first pedal buy, very versatile and cheap distortion. I think most of their pedals are good but too clinical for my taste. I like the more creative element you get with EH gear. As for pedal boards, I prefer to build my own. You only need a few bits of wood a jigsaw and some screws and you can make it to fit your personal pedal collection. Much more satisfying and you will save a bundle of cash that you could spend on another pedal!!!

The DS-1 was actually my first pedal, and i still love it! :)

i built my own pedalboard and it was way cheaper than buying one. the most expensive part of it was probably the velcro.

yea, try to find a vintage one, i have no idea how much they go for though.

or you could get a worm and use an expression pedal with it.

And one of my favourites — the fuzzface challenge. Always reminded me of the tribbles from star trek though.

Who cares if a muff is noisey when your not playing, you dont do gigs to not play or sit down with your rig to not play.

I really don’t care if mine is noisey. and if it does get annoying, ill turn down the volume of my guitar or just turn off the pedal.

big pedals like this and the micro synth look better in the big old enclosures, imo

i have this pedal and love the boost it gives. it works really well with the big muff pi. i use it to boost the volume with my flanger hoax or for a boost for solos. i was considering the mxr micro amp also, but got this because it is cheaper and i’m really glad with my dicision

I think that some pedals wont be XO’ed like the flanger hoax and i hope not the big muff pi, but i think that, although i like the look of the sheet metal cases better, i would rather have smaller pedals, than the hugh ones. i think its great that they are making big pedals like the frequency analyzer and P.O.G. and the holy grail, small clone, and small stone smaller. it definitely saves room on the pedalboard for more stuff.

I think you are all mad……but then when I was at school we had blackboards with white chalk, so maybe it’s just something I’ve always been used to?

….either that or i’d suggest an opticians. ;)

i don’t have that much of a problem reading the forums, only sometimes. but i can see what people mean, i can’t read red writing on white backgrounds.

i know on vBulletin forums you can use different skins

it does get painful reading the bright white against the black :p

if people start using the other font colors, do you think that would help?

Not Memory Boy related – but Big Foot reminded me of this early Flanger Hoax design concept:

…and yes Scott, the illustration was based on Mike :D

Thats really awesome! the flanger hoax would look really amazing if it was black like that, i think the blue and purple would contrast very nicely. do you know of any other design concepts for the flanger hoax? if you do, can you post them?

I think there was already a thread like this…

I agree with you, but if they changed the forum colors, they’d have to change the whole website colors. I think that they should make an option for there to be different colors. this way some people could choose what color they want. it’s kind of hard to explain my idea. but like on AOL.com there are boxes on the top of the page that are different colors and say “choose your screen” . when you click for example blue, the background turns blue, or if you click orange, the background turns orange. so there could be options on this website for different shades of greys and a black and a white, because those seem to be the colors most used on this website. that way everyone wins!! :)
