Here is what I have so far. Can’t find a way to fit the Big Muff and I have a Nano Metal Muff on the way, as well as a Mole. Currently from right to left I have home-made compressor, Ernie Ball volume pedal, home-made ring modulator, Dunlop wah, home-made tremolo, home-made distortion, another home-made tremolo with much more control, tuner, home-made fuzz pedal, MXR Phase 90 (Blah), Boss SD-1 that I modified (was blah now its fixed), and then the good stuff–Small clone, Micro Q-Trn, Memory Boy and finally a home-made clean boost pedal.

Thanks all. The final verdict is for the Big Muff.

I don’t have the budget or the space for the Memory Man, so this was the next best choice. Here is what I love: the warmth and decay on the repeats, the expression pedal (optional of course), the fact that it is small, that it is in die cast aluminum, and that it is cheaper and variable than the digital delays I had.

This was the pedal that won me over.

It is certainly a bit darker than most analog delays, which makes it a great addition to any pedal board. I also like that you can color the repeats with the rotary effects–it isn’t the most practical feature, but is great for something a bit different at times. I replaced my mass-produced digitals with the memory boy and a home-made digital delay with similar characteristics to the Memory Boy (i.e., darker repeats and wet/dry controls). EHX has won me for life with their delays.

I recently got rid of all of my digital pedals. I prefer analog because they are easier to use on the fly. The biggest beef that I have with digital effects is that (1) they tend to have quieter signal outputs, and (2) they also tend to be only applicable to use with an electric guitar or bass. However my small clone and memory boy are fantastic with my acoustic, which pedals from other manufacturers that primarily produce digital modelers seem to not handle well.

That said, the pedals that EHX has made in the digital arena are remarkably hard to make and keep compact in an analog model–here I am specifically referring to their digital reverbs. I have looked in to building an analog reverb pedal but it always requires a tank. For what they are they are masterpieces. If I had to buy digital then it would certainly from EHX.
