BehemotParticipantQuote:………..you’re running a boost pedal into a compressor? that is perhaps not the wisest idea.
sorry I didn’t really read through your post the first time to see that- just glanced and checked the first two or three.re-arranging your line so it looks like this:
Octave -> Comp -> Env. Filter [Dr Q] -> Boost -> Overdrives -> EQ -> Volume -> Modulation/Delay
will probably fix your noise issue. [also, if you had problems with the NS-2 cutting off your delays, couldn’t you have the boomerang after the NS-2?]The Envelope filter is cutting frequencies that aren’t covered by its bandpass, right? so the output on those frequencies is lower. the Compressor is trying to compensate for that- they raise the noise floor to maintain a predictable output volume but they do it without regards to the EQ spectrum.
I think you are right. I tried almost the same (forced by space constraints):
Comp -> Octave -> Env. Filter [Dr Q] -> Boost -> Overdrives -> EQ -> Volume -> Modulation/Delay
and yes it definitely cut the noise that was o/w present when Dr Q was switched on.
As far as envelope depending on attack – Wampler Ego is one of those compressors that allows blending in dry signal in so envelope filter is still getting enough dynamics. As far as NS-2 I will try to fit it on board although it is getting tight.Thanks!

BehemotParticipantThanks for replies. I switched Dr Q and RC Booster – so Dr Q is first in the chain. Cant say it made huge difference – noise is still there – the only way to get rid of it is to turn compressor off. I guess I will just put NS-2 as last pedal in the chain (although it probably will mess up delays).
I located trim pot – that thing is super sensitive – no wonder they hide it inside – going 1/8 turn clockwise from original position made wah sweep very shallow and pedal fairly insensitive to dynamic. Going same amount counterclockwise made wah into annoying “ping”. I ended up with very slight counterclockwise turn. It brighten it slightly. Well for now – it will have to do. I may end up switching to different auto wah eventually.T
