Use the Optional 9DC-100 power supply, as indicated on the EHX site for the DM. Most stores that sell EHX sell the 9DC-100; if not, Musicians Friend and others sell it in the states.

I understand your frustration, but to put it in perspective, none of my Boss, MXR, or Sonic Research pedals came with a supply either – nor did my Big Muff w/Tone Wicker or Small Stone.

One Spot also sells a converter to convert a Boss style Power Supply to the 1/8″ mini-plug style supply. I’m not sure if the ground is correct on this converter as it is intended for a Rat, so use at your own risk.

Am I the only one that thought, “If it’s too loud, you’re too old?”

PS: My MXR and EHX pedals are both pretty loud. I just turn up the amp louder when it starts to bug me. Heck, my tuner pedal (Sonic Research Turbo Tuner) is really the loudest of the bunch.

Before moving onto the guitar (about five years ago), I was a synthesist for 20 years. One of the bands (ok, me an another synth player) was pretty much noisecore industrial.

Anyway, I played three synths, each of which had a dedicated distortion pedal on the output, velcro’d to the top of the synth. No damage.

So go nuts. Pedals on synths is fine.

I’d be on with an XO Deluxe Electric Mistress, but I could see it being a confusing product next to the Stereo Electric Mistress in XO packaging.

I just wanted to verify if there aren’t any negative site-effects when hooked up a shared power supply. I also read a post that there will be negative impact on your effects chain when no seperate power supply is used for the Memory Boy.

In intentionally run my Memory Boy off a G-bus 8 supplying only 9.0 Volts instead of the 9.6 Volts that the Memory Boy power adaptor supplys. I find I can get longer delay times (at the expense of fidelity) with the lower voltage.

The G-bus 8 supplies 1700 mA, which is plenty for my system.

Follow-up to my own post a couple above…

    [warning: honeymoon post]

The Small Clone is everything I wanted in a chorus, and nothing more. Dead simple to use, sounds great, and has stood up to three hours of my terrible playing.

Yes, it is kinda noisy, but my setup tends to create noise (too big of amp in too small of apartment, so I have my compressor knocking the signal down so I can turn the amp up past 1). It doesn’t have a billion knobs (which I consider a plus). Bought a power supply with it so I don’t care about the non-standard plug…only downside I think is the no sticker in the box (got one with my memory boy). What I like about the Small Clone is the one knob, one switch. I don’t get distracted fiddling around with options, I just get good sound. Yeah, I might want something more programmable 1% of the time, but the other 99% of the time I spend playing instead of futzing.

I’ve wanted a Small Clone for a few years, I’m not sure why I ever got the CH-1, but I’m wicked happy with the Small Cone. I hate saying it, but besides my tuner, the three EHX pedals on my board are the only ones that I consider ‘home runs’ and not something I’ll someday kick off the board.

To all the posters above – thanks for the reviews.

I had a Boss CH-1 that I sold a few months ago because I couldn’t get on with it. After demo’ing a Small Clone and listening to a few Youtube reviews…I have one on the way. I don’t run a stereo rig, so no worries there.

Thanks for helping add to my EHX collection, and I’m very excited to get my hands on it.

    Could be a couple things:

    1) Are you feeding it a poor signal? If I run my MB in the effects loop of my amp it doesn’t self-oscillate (there is no “send” level in my amp). If I run the MB in-line with other pedals before the amp, it will self-oscillate.

    2) It may need recallibration. My MB arrived wildly miscallibrated and would self-oscillate on any setting. Since I got a good deal on it I sent it in for warranty repair and got it back in less than a week.

The TW Muff is my favorite EHX pedal.

Mine too, but the only other EHX pedal I have is the Memory Boy.

I find that I use the BMP w/TW far more often than I thought. Sustain at 0, Tone On, Wicker On, Tone at noon is my stock sound lately (playing through a newer Peavey Bandit 112 Clean Channel set to Warm).

    Love it.

Getting some OT due to travel for work this month, trying to figure out what EHX pedal will be sitting at home waiting for me (once I hug the wife and kids).
[Edit: It will be a full-size Small Clone.]

And depending how much more I drink tonight, perhaps a Cathedral and a SMMH too.

I just received my memory boy I ordered from Musicians Friend early on today. I found out that the pedal will not work if the delay knob is less then half way turned up. I’ve continued to try it but still have the same problem. I am wondering if I should send it back.

It has been my impression based upon personal experience and participation in this and other forums that – for some reason – there have been a number of units that have arrived mis-calibrated. Perhaps rough handling is causing the trim pots to move around, perhaps one of the calibration scopes was itself miscalibrated.

    If I were you I’d ask for a return/exchange.

Adding to my theory of the mis-claibraiton is that when I purchased mine it was quite out of whack. Instead of returning it I contacted EHX, which replied it was still under warranty and to send it in. Upon getting the unit back a week later (and it was the same unit based on the serial number) it worked just fine…
