When I started this project I had a dead big muff and it was suggested here that it was likely the switch. Mod is 100% now and I still have no sound unless it is bypassed. I have another issue somewhere. Now I have hours invested and no payoff, still just broken.

I bought a Russian Muff in a pawn shop and got home and the volume only worked from like 8 to 11 o’clock so it wouldn’t get loud enough. Tried every true bypass/wiring mod I could and never could get it working right. So you know what I did? I bought a new Russian Muff then wired my old one just like the new one and that fixed it! Now I have two Russian Muffs and the new one I added the Green mod and Tone switch mod and it smokes. It seems like a lot of diagrams on the net don’t work! It doesn’t mean you can’t fix it though. If I get time I’ll try to post the guts and connections on one of mine to show you!

I don’t use the harmonies either as they seem quite erratic. I just use the vocoder and the unison mostly. I love the Unison though!

I cannot answer many of your questions. I just ordered my 2880 and it’s not here yet but I have a Boss RC-2 and looping with it can be a nightmare. It’s fine by your self but the problem with it is when you have a drummer the tempo adjusts (like an auto-quantize) so if the drummer is even one or two hits off it can completely throw off the timing. On the 2880 I know you can have the quantize off and this could possibly help! If your RC-20 is like the RC-2 (they are pretty much the same) I can imagine it being the same kind of hassle. For instance, I record a simple 4 bar G-C-D-C progression and start jamming along but for some reason (and I don’t know how!?) it will change the tempo and what not if you have a drummer playing along with it. I emailed Boss about it and got nothing in response! Is this like the problems you have with your looper? I’ll let you know about the 2880 when I try it out.

Yeah I have heard AX7’s make the Muff’n out of control. Try some AT7’s or maybe even some 5751s if you can find them!

http://thetubestore.com/gainfactor.html if you use this you can see what tubes are switchable with which. The Muff’n has 12AU7’s so AX7’s aren’t even suggested for use in the circuit!

I still don’t see any reason to get it now that you can get the memory boy. I just bought a memory boy off ebay for 98 with free shipping!

Very true! I didn’t know you could get them yet. I might sell my Time Machine and get this then just to save the space on my pedal board!!!

*Well I just watched that video and think I will stick to my Time Machine. The Memory Boy sounded really metallic and harsh to me, plus a lot of the sounds seemed very out there and unusable. It’s hard to tell with that video.

I used to have the classic chassis version. I bought it used and the only effect useful on it was the Phaser which sounded amazing! The trem was pretty descent but you had to dial in the right sound. I don’t know if my was a defect or what but I thought the autowah and vibrato sucked. I’d buy a new version for about 80 for the phaser alone.

I just got my XO Worm for $66 off eBay. I like it overall, but to me the phaser sucks compared to my $25 Behringer Vintage Phaser and the vibe doens’t come close to my Danelectro Vibe. I still really like it though and the Auto Wah is awesome!!!

Got the Worm yesterday. I really dig it, got some good sounds out of it quick. It seems kind of subtle though but that doesn’t bother me. Going to try and pick up the expression pedal today!

What replaced the tubes? or replaced them with AX7’s? It’s easy to replace them just unscrew that metal cover pop em out and insert the new ones. As for the 12AX7’s I have heard it sucks with them. The AY7 has a lot less gain than than the AX7. The AT7’s might be ok I have just heard the AX’s make the Muff’n buzzy and muffled.

I have a Vintage Time Machine and let me tell you I love it. Most of the Behringer stuff (and a lot of their products) flat out suck and it has given them a cheapo bad name. I have the Vintage Time Machine, the Vintage Tube Monster (Bitmo modded), and the Vintage Phaser and I love all 3. The Time Machine has all kinds of sounds and I think it sound really good though I’m not a huge delay guy. The case is sturdy as well! Go to my site and then click on the Tossing Camels link and play Crossfire (I use a pretty massive delay on the Time Machine in it), but it is through my tube amp cranked a little so it’s not the cleanest but it can be. Good luck and for the money why not try the Time Machine, you can always sell it for close to what you paid!

The sound is identical and the XO is stronger and has no noise. Is there really any question?

I have heard the old one is noisy but the XO has that fixed. I am getting my XO Worm in the mail in the next couple of days and I’ll let you know!

It’s easy to fix, sell it and get a small clone.

I really have no idea though.

Think about this. The small clone is a chorus pedal and chorus is made by cloning the signal and mixing it back together thus how I came to my stone simile. The ripple effect of a stone thrown in water represents the pulsating effect of the sound(the waves of the frequency spectrum produced by the phaser with it’s ebb and flow like a ripple in water). I though it sounded good, nobody really said anything about my idea earlier so I thought I would provide a little more insight into my thoughts.
