B.DawsParticipant
Sorry I’m being super lazy this weekend. I’ll try to work on some today…
*edit* So I just got through jamming a little with it and I love it. This is my first Germanium pedal FYI and I was also playing it on a brand new amp that I just got. Due to that it may not quite be dialed in but I just plugged in my strat and just had a joyous little noodling session. One of the first things I noticed is the Bias and Volts controls are extremely sensitive. There are a huge variety of sounds in there just from fiddling with it. Messing with the overdrive side can get a nice little crunch going but also as just a boost it seemed super clean as well. The distortion side is great because the Volts option allows for so many different tones. I just could not stop playing with it! So this morning has been great needless to say. I plugged in my new amp (a Peavey Classic 30 head) and was loving the cleans on it. Then I hooked up the G4BMP and that was just icing on the cake. The G4BMP also allowed for very controlled feedback at very low levels which I really dig. Also the harmonics that come out of this thing are insanity. Overall I’m very happy. I’m going to record some clips at some point as well. What is a good site to upload these to in order to share them? Later dudes.
July 9, 2010 at 3:34 pm in reply to: New Devices: Germanium^4 Big Muff &, .44 Magnum, Freeze, Neo Clone, & Headphone Amp #110088B.DawsParticipantMy G4BMP rolled in yesterday off the mail truck. I cannot wait to get home and test this puppy out today!!!
B.DawsParticipantI just ordered one off of Ebay yesterday. I have been looking at it for awhile and with it’s size I think it will be great on my board. I can’t wait to run my new Germanium Big Muff through it!!!
B.DawsParticipantYou the man Bill! Thanks so much.
B.DawsParticipantThanks for the help Bill. I knew where the trim pot was but I remember seeing this template(that was the front of the Microsynth) that showed what to set the settings on in order to adjust the trim pot while you hit the switch and check between the two levels. Any idea of what I’m talking about? I’m pretty sure the it was just the guitar slider up to almost full but I didn’t know where I should have the trigger. Thanks again!
I’m so stoked about the new Germanium BMP too!!!
B.DawsParticipantI had a 2880 and sold it My question is do you have the feedback turned up to where when the loop is repeating it just gets louder and louder? You have to turn the slider down to half (I think) because above half it will cause each loop to grow louder and louder (This is the feedback control on the sliders). I may be totally wrong but that’s what I remember.
B.DawsParticipantI had a hum debugger for a couple of days but got rid of it. It doesn’t really do anything to remove noise out of chain (I’d try the ISP Decimator or the Boss NS-2). I’m not quite sure what it’s use is…
B.DawsParticipantQuote:hi,
I have tried both of them and I like the sound of CC better and the fact that you can dial up your amunt of modulation with a trimpot, that MT doesn’t have… but I baught MT cause the price and for my use it is enough and does work great for me…can anybody tell me how much power MT consumes? mA? I have to modify my power suply…
thanx
silkThe Memory Toy does have a trim pot for modulation, it’s on the board in the middle of the top between the two pots. It makes a huge difference in the modulation sound. I love the MT after I fiddled with the pots but mine still won’t self oscillate. If I up the first trim to where it self oscillates then the repeats are distorted. Regardless the delay is beautiful. I did recently get a Way Huge Aqua Puss and I really wish it had more time but it sounds great too.
B.DawsParticipantIt’s all preference. I feel volume swells are far easier on pedals than using the knob. I am pretty sure though that you can use the knob on your guitar to roll down the volume and apply this technique with your dirt pedals (just like with a tube amp). I use the EHX Signal Pad on one of my tube amps because it’s a set and forget volume pedal basically that enables you to turn a one channel amp into a two channel amp.
Remember this, if you use volume before overdrive/distortion (whether it be a pedal, your knob on your guitar, or even a booster like the LPB-1) then it affects the level of gain/signal going into the pedal. If you throw it at the end of your chain then it effects actual volume.
B.DawsParticipantQuote:great thanks brother! i understand that you can also use Vol.Pedals as gain control when putting them before a fuzz/OD (going from “almost” clean to “full-on” dirty)???Instead of using a volume pedal you can actually use the volume knob on your guitar as well if you didn’t know. That’s basically all most volume pedals are is a volume knob in a foot pedal.
B.DawsParticipantOpen it and make sure the two boards are pushed together. Sound like they have become separated (this is a common problem with the MT). Also learn to use the search function in the forums, these same topics have been beaten like a dead horse over and over on here. Good luck!
B.DawsParticipantThere is only one EH EL84 link on the site…

No idea what you are talking about but I would assume you are talking about matched pairs and the different possibilities you could get when matching them.
B.DawsParticipantThe previous poster brings a good point. Your XLR to 1/4″ cable may be the issue. The 1/4″ end might be TRS that is wired differently than a mono cable such as you would connect to a guitar amplifier.
B.DawsParticipantUpon listening to that it sounds like something isn’t hooked up right or there is a pedal problem. Let me try to clarify how you have it hooked up again…
Microphone(XLR) to XLR In on VoiceBox.
XLR out on VoiceBox to 1/4″ in on Amplifier.
Guitar 1/4″ In to 1/4″ in on VoiceBox
1/4″ out on VoiceBox to ?Clarify this if it’s wrong please…
Also what kind of Microphone are you using? Make sure you have your Phantom Power set correctly on the side!!!
B.DawsParticipantJordi,
I have a Voice Box I am quite experienced with so I will try to offer you some help. As far as the power goes it looks like you are going the right way with that with the adapter and such. Since you are running the Voice Box to an amp (I read it as you have an XLR out of the pedal to a 1/4″ connection into an amp right?) you have to make sure the preamp volume is probably low or even off (You might even want to try and Aux In or a Slave In if your amp has one). I’m guessing, since the Voice Box is a preamp, that you might be overloading the amp and getting hellacious feedback or something of that nature. Also check by bypassing the pedal (click the left switch) and see if the Mic is still making the noise just to make sure it’s not the pedal circuit. Also you might try running the Mic Power on Low instead of High since you are going into another amp. I’m just guessing that the problem is you are using two Pre Amps with the Box and your Amp and it’s overloading the power stage in your amp with way too high of a signal. I have run my Voice Box into a mixer and a set of pre’s and I have to have the Mixer’s Pre or the other Pre off for it to work well. Good luck and let me know how this works out.
