Now you’ll have to buy a BMPTW! LOL

So what does the Tone Wicker do? or is it a mystery? I have too many pedals right now to buy any more. Two pedal boards with about 20 or so pedals and I don’t even have room for my hot tubes on there, it’s getting ridiculous!

Yeah i know, their my mods and I put them there and their for tone bypass and 3way tone control not wicker.

Oh ok! Thanks for clearing that up. I just assumed that’s what the tone wicker was!

You mean tone bypass as no one really knows what the wicker is(well, we do but…), meaning there’s no DIY info on the wicker.

What? There is a sheet for doing a tone wicker mod to the Russian and NYC BMP’s on the mods pages (it’s just a scooped/normal/flat mids switch).

    Lee,

If you are going to hang it out of the case like that, you should just go ahead and hard wire the power supply and put electrical tape over it! In fact, I might do this with all my tube pedals as well as I know my Muff’n and my Hot Tubes both buzz pretty bad. If you don’t know how to hard wire I will do one of mine and post some pics in a few days! Take it easy and keep rockin!

btw, P90’s are single coils so I presume you would choose that option if you use p90’s ….. not all single coils are strat pickups and not all humbuckers are gibson PAF’s either. There are many different sounding varieties of both type. :)

You are right but I think the poll is too general was my point. I think single coil makes the strat assumption and that is why I said what about P-90s.

Very true. I don’t know why I was ragging on you about this, must have had a bad day. Sorry ;)

I have two Russian BMP’s and I think the Russian is the smoothest sounding Fuzz of the basic EHX fuzzes. I have not tried the Tone Wicker but it’s a BMP with what I would assume a switch to mess with the mids. I love the Russian and I think it is super smooth and creamy. I have an older yellow print black one that sounds great, and the newer one I got (the writing is more Yellow/Green) I am modding to the green Russian and adding a tone wicker so it should be rocking but I don’t know yet! Go to the store and try them out!

theres definately something cool about having original stuff though

Very true, I just thought a TS9 was not even worth noting if it was an original was my point. I have an original 2008 Behringer Vintage Time Machine, but does it matter? My point was pointless. I’ll quit being off topic. I’m splitting my pedal board into two boards and I’ll post some pics soon.

    Original 1984 TS9 Tubescreamer

Not to rag on you too bad but is there any point in saying “Original” 1984 TS9. I still find it funny that the TS9’s are priced where they are and they don’t even have the 4558D chip in them. Even the cheap TS7 (which I got for $20) has the 4558 chip (which I actually swapped for the 4558P due to liking the sound more). Why would anyone buy any tubescreamer other than the TS7? I mean $20 for the pedal, $5 for the parts to mod it to 808 specs. Seriously…if you buy a TS9 or an 808 or a Vintage 808 you are getting ripped!

I agree and also have quarrels with it because I use single coils and humbuckers and both is not an option! Also what about P90s? I use them a lot too.

yeah, it’s a bit odd, I have guitars with both buckers and singles…… I’d try not to let it bother you though. :)

But it’s just so hard to not let things bother me! Lol.

Not to gripe……. but I have a gripe:

Isn’t the “poll” attached to this thread kind of pointless? Aren’t both single coils and Hb’ers great. I play through them both, depending on what the sound or style calls for. I have mutual love for both, not to mention guitars that have both and that get used equally. I guess it would be more realistic results if it had an added “both/either” or “depends” option. That would probably take most votes.

It’s about as telling as a “tits or a$$” poll……. Aren’t they both just great!

how does the time machine sound?

I like it. I don’t hardly use the chorus or vibrato on it but for the delay and the self oscillation stuff it’s pretty cool. I think the only song on my site I use it on is Crossfire.

Aww, your a dirty guy Dawson. I should’a asked you how it sounds clean (being a 5 watt’r, I figure not too loud), but I’m really interested in it’s clean tone. I checked you samples (great stuff by the way), most of it’s driven. Is that the Valve Junior miced on the opening part of the song named “beauty” ?

Yeah I guess I should have mentioned dirty (I use effects a bit). It breaks up pretty early but I think you can get a good clean tone. I just got a compressor so I think that can help the clean out. Long Hard Fight I know is clean with it (or maybe just the volume on like 10-11 o’clock. On beauty the rhythm is my strat coming out of a Line 6 Spider, the Epi is lead and yes a little dirty. I’ll try to record something clean for you. With the Bitmo you can keep it on Low voice and boost it quite high and it still stay clean as well. I’ll try to post a video or something for you soon.

Oh and my girlfriend surprised me today with a Voice Box, she rocks so hard!

Say, Dawson, how do the Behringer Vintage series stack up to the real things?

I love all the Behringer pedals I have. The phaser is great, the time machine is cool, and I modified the tube monster with the Bitmo kit and it is one of my favorite distortions. Flemsy made, but if you are careful with them good pedals. Check the link below to hear some of them, I use the phaser on Sound of Conception and I use the Time Machine on Crossfire…the distortion is used throughout.

Dawson1498, what’s your opinion of that Epi stack you’ve got there? I’ve been REALLY loving some Gibson amps, from their vintage, low watt crestine series combos to more modern goldtones. I’m curious if the Epiphone’s are similar to their Gibson relatives? Um, I see you’ve got a mic on it….. any chance you could share some clips from it?

I love the Valve Junior. I modded it with the Bitmo Trio kit and it is great. I have never played any Gibson amp and bought the Epi stack as a basic “intro” tube amp for me. It will do anything I ask of it and can be pretty damn loud for 5 watts too. The Trio kit adds a tone and 3 voicing switch for around $50 and is a great addition. Simple to install to, I do a lot of pedal mods and the trio was quite easy to install. The speaker is an Eminence Lady Luck and I like it as well.

Here is my site…lots of jams (I use the Epi on all the ones I play in which is most.)
