I think every pedal should be tested through 2 totally different amps with 2 totally different guitars, at similar and wildly different settings. When I go to my local store and try out a pedal, i bring along one of my guitars and think about how the other ones would sound through such a setup.

im guessing the electric mistress will go for like $80?

im guessing the memory man will sell at around $300?
it seems to me like the mistress is just the flanger part of the original. right?

Best chorus pedal I’ve ever played with.Sadly I went to the store and they had sold the neo clone they had in stock. I’m going to have to wait for another one because my pedal board isnt too big and the small clone would take up some serious space.
does anyone know if the neo clone really is the same but smaller?

I played around with the Nano Clone for a while and decided I’m for it. In the future I will pickup the neo clone and small clone and decide which one suits my needs best, I’ll probably sell the others.thanks for the help!
Definitely! The Nano Clone is the black sheep outta the Clone Family. The Neo clones is really close to the Small Clone and I’d recomend it if you’re not thinking about tweaking the Small Clone (Since it has bigger components you can “customize” it’s sound to your liking). Specially because of the footprint.
Yeah, I rushed on the decision. I probably would have taken the neo clone which ive heard “is the exact circuit” as the small clone.
astrozombieParticipantDo we know if these happen to be the size to ALL the screws on the big muff? it seems so.

As for the return, I don’t think EHX can do anything about that but you may have legal rights depending on where you live.I did some searching and found a post on the forum that claims that the size for the screw is
#4 x 1/4
I went down to the store and bought some that are #4 x 3/8. Works like a charm! I was afraid it would be a little too long but I unscrewed the casing of the pedal to be sure the longer screw wasn’t poking anything or scratching any component and it’s perfectly fine.

November 16, 2010 at 10:56 am in reply to: What Electro-Harmonix pedals are worth checking out right away? #112609astrozombieParticipantThe trade involving the Little Big Muff didn’t go through, but I have some spare cash on my hands and am going to visit my local dealer today.
My budget is pretty tight, so for today im considering:
1- Small Clone
2-Pulsar
3-Small Stone
4-Big Muff (and variants)I’ll let y’all know how it goes.

Flangers typically have less delay time than a chorus. The Deluxe Electric Mistress has a delay time that is long enough to create a chorusy effect…. Just hear how Andy Summers or David Gilmour used the Mistress circa 1980.
im sold.

I know theres two versions: one is promoted as a flanger AND chorus and the other is a flanger by itself.any big difference in tone between them?
yeah… the stereo electric mistress is digital and the deluxe electric mistress is analogue, they do similar things but sound quite different… totally different circuits.
Hmm… i think im going to have to go deluxe then. I want the kind of modulation sounds you hear in The Cure records.

I’m actually going to pick up a little big muff pretty soon in a trade. I’m excited. I have a flanger pedal, and love modulation pedals, so a chorus and a phaser are on my list, as well as a delay. the thing is that I need a delay that i can dial an exact tempo on, so I’m going to have to pick up something digital. I saw that EHx makes a treble booster. that caught my attention.I gotta ask, are the smaller versions much different than the bigger pedals?
I do need a compressor! does the black finger work for all kinds of stuff, or is it better with chords or leads?
I’d like to compress my signal before flanging it, chorusing it, phasing it and delaying it to death.
does EHx make a good tremolo pedal? one with a good solid CHOP? I dont need volume going up and down slowly, I need like, oscillation.
Can I add my admiration of the ‘Stereo Pulsar’ to this thread. I bought mine not thinking I would use it much at all, but I was blown away – it’s great.
Big Muff with a valve amp is a joy to behold!
I can’t recommend the Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai enough. It’s a fantastic thing and I too am still finding new uses for it. It’s like a musical instrument in itself.
You also talk of a treble booster – I assume you mean the ‘Screaming Bird’. Be careful here. It does seem to boost the treble but at the same time removes all bass from the signal. I keep mine on my board, but it has VERY limited use. Try before you buy.
Yeah man, thats the one I meant. I think it might be good for soloing, since rolling off bass will help you cut through. might also sound great as a sort of filter pedal.
I didnt know that delay pedal had a tap tempo! my interest is peaked! I hope they have that pedal at that store still come december. im in between jobs.
I’m really psyched about getting the little big muff. a lot of my favorite artists are into the pedal: Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana.
