I’ve done some testing of chorus pedals in my day, but I keep going back to the 18v Danelectro Cool Cat. If I could get a good deal on a Small Clone, a pedal I enjoy, I still wouldn’t go for it, as I spend too much money on effects. Or, is that because I also have the Polychorus, which I keep thinking will do the proper chorus sounds, which, despite all of the cool things it can do, is one sound it cannot produce?

So, with the faster processor in this POG2, does that mean we’re getting a HOG2 in the foreseeable future?

Hopefully, the proceeds will go towards developing a more sophisticated ring modulator. A Deluxe Frequency Analyzer, or something.

Make a Q-Tron controller, so they can do some Chili Peppers or Stevie Wonder.

I’m about to mod my Black Russian Big Muff (Black -> Green), and I have one key question: I know the resistance value of the three resistors I need to obtain, but not the wattage. Could you help me?

Exactly how different does a Stereo Polyphase (or an old one) sound from, say, my black, Russian Small Stone? If I can get the proper Small Stone sounds from a Polyphase, then I can consider offering mine as trade bait for one.

What would I have to do to my Black Russian to get a green Sovtek sound? I like Black Russian, since it’s readily available (and sounds good, and is literally built like a tank), but that green Sovtek sounds better. You mentioned a three resistor mod, but which resistors?

Ah, jeez, if that Memory Boy can kill my Carbon Copy, I’d be slightly terrified. The Carbon Copy is, in my opinion, a fine delay (no knocks on EHX, but the Deluxe Memory Man – the analog one – just is not to be found in my area, else I’d have purchased one). As for those Q-Balls, I have to try them sooner or later. Just don’t make them very rare.

And incur the wrath of the great Billy Mays? I think not.

Anyway, I’ve never been successful in converting others to the EHX path. They usually don’t need encouragement.

When dating your DMM, don’t worry about it being too forward. Memory Men are complete gentlemen! But they can get pretty crazy once you get to really know them!

I took him out to dinner tonight but he kept repeating everything I said… in a charming way, I guess.

He’s a good listener. If you want to hear from him, crank up the feedback and he’ll open up to you. But be careful, prompt him too much and you may end up hearing terrible crazy things.

How exactly can I get those general chorus sounds? It seems that the Polychorus does everything BUT chorus, and while I love the pedal dearly, and won’t be [deliberately] ridding myself of it any time soon, I am a bit confused by the name (should it not be able to do so).

Well, I know it’s been almost a fortnight, but I do have something to add: as a fellow bass player (and TalkBass vet), I don’t know if I can agree with the statement that the DEM is a subtle flanger. With the color all the way up, it can get very, very thick. I have the mid-90s reissue, for what it’s worth.

I have never purchased an EHX pedal that didn’t make me want to buy another, but here goes nothing:

    Q-Tron (the big box)
    Stereo Polychorus
Bass Micro Synth (the big box)
    Big Muff (black Russian)
    Deluxe Electric Mistress
    Small Stone (black Russian)
    Bassballs (black Russian)
    LPB-1 (Nano)

I’m going to add a HOG.

I just added the VT Bass. I’m still very intrigued by the Frequency Analyzer, and will be picking up the HOG, Stereo Polyphase, and possibly a Small Clone.

I have the reissue DEM, and, as that is the only product in that family I have used, that gets my vote.
