My instruction sheet says put the Mel9 first in the chain. It also says the Mel9 won’t do good in the effects loop. I have mine running to an A/B box. I have my guitar going through my pedal board to one amp. Another out goes to the Mel9 and the second amp. I turn the dry “off” and run only the effects. If you turn “off” the Mel9 you still get the dry out even if the vol is dowm to zero.

I have a gig in a week and will try the Mel9 wet through the PA. I can say right now a compressor in front of the Mel9 is a plus.

OK EHX staff. I am using my A/B/C box. I can now send the dry to one amp, wet to another, and turn on either, one, or none. Thanks!

I spent about 4 hours today with the Mel9. I need keyboard technique in the place of guitar technique. At this point there is one thing I really don’t like about the Mel9. The dry output is always there if split. If I run the Mel9 dry out to one amp and effect out to another amp, the dry is going to the effect amp also. Cutting the vol on the dry to zero still sends the dry out. Running the single effect out you can cut the dry out with the vol control. This pedal will have to be within hand reach and not on the floor. I can see constant adjustments being made.

Dont forget to try the blend of your real instrument with the Melvin!

I plan on several hours of quality time in the living room getting used to the Mel9 before the
gigs. The blend is high on my list.

Sweetwater has informed me that my MEL9 has shipped. I have full electric and acoustic duo gigs coming up. After I use the MEL9 in live venues I will be doing a review.

    Preorder placed with Sweetwater.

…..Five minutes after placing my order I got a call from SW saying they were expected in the last of March or first of April. I’ve waited 40 years for this so 3-4 weeks ain’t nothin’.

    Hi,

How much will the Mel9 retail for?

    TYVM!

Just assuming, it will be the same price as the C9 and B9, about $221. This is something I’ve looked forward to for a looooong time.

The B-9 demo is VERY impressive. Please now commence work on the Holiest of Grails, a Mellotron simulator. You can call it the Tron Blue (mello)Tron (Moody)Blue(s)

I just opened my Big Muff Nano and found it is made in China. I will probably return it. I was under the impression all EH stuff was made in NYC. Will I ever learn…?

My 22 Cal gives a slight click when powered off. So does my Deluxe Reverb, due to an arcing in the switch inherent to the design. I live with it.

My 22 Cal will shut off with a 4 Ohm load but is fine with 8 or 16. It sounds great powering my Roland RS-09 string keyboard. EH! Give us a super clean amp like the 22/44 please! With reverb!

Thanks for the replies. I just ordered a Freeze and put a hold on the POG but it might come next even though I still won’t -apparently- be able to sing You Shook Me All Night Long.

I’ve got a .22 Caliber amp and am wondering how the clean headroom of the 44 Magnum compares. The 22 is a cool little amp. I wonder what class D guitar amp will be released next…..?

    Thanks, Andy

You do get a bit more headroom on the 44 as compared to the 22 before it starts to break up but not a lot more. If you were to compare the knob settings for when both amps begin to break up, it would be at about the same setting but the 44 will give you a bit more volume up to the break up point.

Thank you for the info Mr Flick. I enjoy the 22 with both guitar, bass & as a computer monitor through a 1X12 cab. I’d like to see a little amp engineered from the ground up to be clean. IMHO distortion is easy to come by. Clean is harder to get.
