Yeah, I’d just leave it always on with a mute if that’s how you want to use it.
December 8, 2009 at 2:49 am #104967walkerMemberThat makes sense. First day with it, still learning. I don’t have the foot controller yet, but I do plan on getting one, and using a ‘mute’ setting as a preset should work too.
What are your settings for a ‘bow’ sound?
December 8, 2009 at 3:23 am #104969julianModeratormmm I don’t know that I go after traditional bow sounds myself, but I’d start with original up, envelope on, and the attack set slow.
December 9, 2009 at 3:14 pm #105069wilfbiffherbMembergot a preset for a cello sound. turn off all the original sliders and put up the -1 octave. use the envelope to set a slow attack and play around the fret 5 area and it sounds pretty cello-like. send it through a reverb like the SMMH and it can actually sound pretty convincing!
December 9, 2009 at 4:25 pm #105072julianModeratorWell in that case I’d turn off the -1 octave slider and turn up the +5th slider, then hit the expression direction button (so you bend down) and bend it down a whole octave. So then you’ll be getting -1 octave + a 5th, and you can play open.

January 22, 2010 at 7:51 am #106693Mr.GrimMembersupertonesteve…to mute the signal you could always use a A/B box like the Switchblade (rather cheap) and just dont connect the second jack so when you engage the pedal it mutes the sound instead of re-directing it.

Thanks BillQuote:yes!!! can you hint at what its gonna be?May 27, 2010 at 6:59 pm #103764gloomyorionMemberQuote:I set up my rig last night, but I didn’t realize that I will need a way to mute the signal to the amp when the HOG is in bypass mode. I have a volume pedal, but I want it in my other signal path. Any suggestions for a cheap/easy way to cut the signal when I’m not using the HOG? I don’t want to get another volume pedal, does anyone make a mute pedal?sorry to be so late to the party, and pardon me if this is dumb, but i’m not sure i understand your problem. i’ve been using the HOG since day one, but i find i am always learning new things about it. I’m curious if maybe i am in the same shape as you but just don’t know it! would it be a lot of trouble to map your signal so that i could see what you’re up to? i’m just very curious.
Always interested in improving my signal and tone.

I just wanted to add a note to this idea which I think is a good one. Reminds me of the patch sheets that KEYBOARD magazine used to do. I got all my best CZ sounds that way. Anyway, my add to this is that I’ve found the HOG is EXTREMEMLY dependent on the sounds it gets. When I first got the thing, I couldn’t for the life of me get anything that sounded in any way usable. So, I used my standard well thought out SOP & simply gave up for the evening & went on to something else. The next day I was working on a completely different set-up for my guitar & just off the cuff decided to run it through the HOG to see what would happen. After a couple of minor tweeks I had almost the sound I was going for the previous evening. Ever since then I start with my guitar sound & then try the HOG to see the result. So, a helpful bit on the HOG patch sheet would be an additional area for pickup settings, FX before the HOG, etc. Because the HOG has several filters, I now think of it as a very versital “Colour/Tone” FX rather than a straight synth. The HOG is a much more dynamic gadget than I first realized when I saw some of the videos. It’s amazing & one of the best pieces of gear in my FX arsenal. -
