    So how tough are these really? They look really vulnerable to me.
    I mean for instance this one:

    Has anyone ever damaged these? What are your experiences with it?

    They’re mostly mounted in areas where your foot wouldn’t normally hit them. They’re as rugged as any other comparable toggle switch.
    In my years of repairs I’ve had to replace more footswitches than toggle switches.

    What he said.

    I’ve had no problems with them either in EHX pedals or pedals I’ve built. Most toggles are pretty robust IME.
