Hello there,
For some reason, and I don’t even know why, I have started collecting the Wooden Box era EHX effects. It all started last year with a trip to my Luthier, who had a NOS Deluxe Memory man and Stereo Polychorus that I bought off of him. I remember using the Polychorus in stereo for the first time. That was it! Game over from there on. I’m not a fan of the new(er) xo stuff at all really and I prefer units with built in power cords (but that doesn’t really matter.) Anyhow, if anyone here has any of these effects (preferably with their respective wooden boxes) and are looking to sell…please feel free to message me. I’ll give you a list of what I already have: Deluxe Memory Man, Stereo Polychorus, Stereo Memory Man Echo/Chorus, Q-Tron, Micro Synth, Frequency Analyzer, Deluxe Electric Mistress, Graphic Fuzz, and Small Clone….so as you can see, I have quite a few more to get. Let me know if any of you have any that you’d be willing to sell…I’m really looking for a Black Finger with wooden box right now. Thank you.
Zach
April 6, 2012 at 9:03 pm #117276Mr.GrimMemberFYI: not all wood boxed EH products had AC cords, my big case (but still re-issue) Polychorus has a 18v adapter plug and has a wood box, as does my 4 channel Russian made mini mixer.
April 6, 2012 at 9:44 pm #117279zachrosynthMemberYes, I’m aware of this…I never said anything about them all having ac power cords…What I did say though, is “I prefer units with built in power cords (but that doesn’t really matter.)” Key Word = PREFER, or I would rather have units with the built in AC cord, but it doesn’t really make a difference in the end if it comes with that or power supply. One thing I’m not aware of though is that the Polychorus came with an 18v power supply? Mine, and all the ones I’ve seen came with a 24v power power supply.
April 6, 2012 at 9:46 pm #117280Mr.GrimMemberyou are correct, it is 24V, i am sorry i confused it with my Holier Grail.
April 8, 2012 at 12:40 am #117286The EH ManModeratorIf you’re just doing the US products you’ll also need a Small Stone, Micro-Synthesizer, Bass Micro-Synthesizer, English Muffin, Tube Zipper, Big Muff, Q-tron+, 16 Second Digital Delay, Double Muff, Worm, Hot Tubes, Tube Zipper, Holy Grail, Holier Grail, Mini Q-tron.
That’s all I can think of at the moment. My Deluxe Electric Mistress has a cardboard box but it’s one of the first ones and they didn’t have the wooden boxes yet.
April 8, 2012 at 9:20 pm #117289zachrosynthMemberThanks for the list EH Man. I wrote it down and will use that as a guide for what I have left to get. If you think of anymore, please let me know. I do have the Micro-Synth already, but I think I’m going to try and get as many of those as I can (original reissues, wooden box or not) because of how fat and huge sounding they are. I just love them. As far as my “collecting” goes, the US-made Wooden Box Reissues are really the only ones I’m really after night now. Like I said in my original post, I don’t really know why…I just love the wooden boxes, and more importantly the fat sound of all of them…not saying the wooden boxes dictate the tone or anything (as I’m sure your Deluxe Electric Mistress is just as fat as can be,) but it’s just a little collecting thing that I’m on. I have some vintage (late ’70s/early ’80’s) pieces that are killer too, but I don’t really collect those (at this point.) I don’t have a Black Finger from that era yet either. I’d LOVE to get ahold of a 16 second digital delay, and If it came with the wooden box then that would just put the icing on the cake..for me at least, and I’d be willing to spend some serious money on it. Like I said, thanks for the help and if you can think of any more that you may have forgotten to list, let me know. Thanks buddy.

Big Box Q-Trons are one of my favorite effects. There are only two things I need to know…how much? and have you or anyone else ever adjusted any trimpots inside of it? I’m fairly new to this forum; is there anyway we can send personal messages on here?

I noticed you said that you have a Holier Grail. I recently got one myself, and can’t seem to coax any good sounds out of it. Any suggestions? What are your settings? Do you run it through your effects loop or up front? Etc…I’m just trying to really give this pedal a chance before I give up on it….I don’t know, mabey there’s just something about digital reverb that doesn’t appeal to me. Anyhow, let me know if you have any good settings to try out with the Holier Grail. Thanks.
