That must’ve been great. How about Shellac, did that happen yet? I saw them at the Unitarian Church in Philly maybe a year and a half ago and it was excellent. Shellac may be my favorite band all-time. Them or Barkmarket.
Shellac is in September. You can’t get tickets online for them and I asked my sister to pick some up for me since she lives in the city, but somehow I don’t see that happening.
This makes me sad (Because I do sound professionally, I don’t get to pick the concerts I see)… Mixed Lil John, LMFAO, Down with Webster, and Jay Sean at Alderny Gate a couple weeks ago. Before that I was system teching for Black Eye’d Peas, Weezer (yay!) and Hot Hot Heat.
I saw Primus at The Rave (a less-than-spectacular venue in Milwaukee) a few weeks back. I think a three-hour set works against them, and they become too jam-band-y. Luckily, this was not a three-hour set; they had the Dead Kenny G’s as an opening act (a strange one at that; I rather enjoyed them, to be honest), and their shorter set was much more focused. It was perhaps the sweatiest concert I have ever attended, and was not at all surprised that several people, myself included, stopped at the same gas station on I-94 for the same thing: large bottles of water, and large bottles of Gatorade. Of course, that might also have something to do with the fact that The Rave is located in one of the worst neighborhoods in Milwaukee, a city known for its urban decay. And its corrupt politicians (one of whom will be the governor of Wisconsin, come January). And its beer (its very, very, very tasty, refreshing beer). And the largest music festival in the world.

Barkmarket
Aaah!
That reminds me of skateboarding in the early 90’s….
I saw Primus in Cleveland in August with a buddy from work, amazing show! The set was great, they played a lot of different stuff. “Those Damned Blue Collar Tweekers,” “John The Fisherman,” and “Mr. Krinkle” were great to see and hear live!
i just recently saw Circa Survive last month, and like two weeks ago i saw a Great Big Pile of Leaves/ Saves The Day/ Motion City Soundtrack/ Say Anything. both were insane. i was in the front for both, and i got two guitar picks from MCS, but the security guard took one away and then i met the singer from MCS for the fourth time after. hopefully i’ll see fun. or Glassjaw next. not really sure if i can though.
oh oh, and i wanna see My Chemical Romance. i used to listen to them a lot, not so much anymore, but theyre finally around again and i’m feelin like i should see them. tickets go on sale saturday, hopefully i can get one.
I saw Caspian and God Is An Astronaut in London the other day, that gig was absolutely mind-blowing. GIAA were possibly the tightest band I’ve ever seen and Caspian were just…perfect.
Saw This Will Destroy You in Manchester at the end of summer, and should be seeing Anathema early next year. PLus saw a bunch of bands in Leeds last month; alcest, the mire, rolo tomassi……
