Hello,
I purchased an second hand English Muffin and kind of got idea from somewhere that it is originally shipped with two different type of the tubes. 12ay7 and 12ax7 if I am not mistaken.
I think my pedal has now two JJ 12ax7 tubes installed and it gives too much of an gain.
Which would be the original tube setting (if two different types, and which should be which) and if no, then was it 12ay7 tube the original one. I got an manual with pedal, but it’s information was very minimal.
and does pedal have need for Biasing while relapsing the tubes or it is an Plug and Play-type of an Auto-biasing one???

ps Sory if all this can be found somewhere on the site, or this forum, but I just could not find it (and sorry of my terrible English)
Hi there, The Muffin’ come stock with two 12AY7’s…..12ax7’s are the highest gain out of the 12a-7 types, here’s a rough run down of the types (gainiest to lowest gain)
12AX7 (Highest Gain)
5751 (High Gain)
12AT7 (Mid/High)
12AY7 (low/Mid)
12AU7 (low gain)
replacing one or both of the 12AX7’s with one of the lower gain models should lower the gain of the pedal quite a lot, there’s no need for Biasing on preamp tubes so you can mix and match which ever you like to get the sound you want.
Thanks man. any place (with sound samples) of tested good combinations…

unfortunatly not that I know of..
here’s what it sounds like with the standard 2x 12ay7’s though.
does a 12AX7A work with this pedal?
