I play mostly noise rock/art rock/post-punk but with some emphasis on vocal melodies. It’s sort of in the vein of Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Mission of Burma, Chavez, and Polvo.
What do you play?
December 22, 2008 at 9:20 pm #89508McHavenModeratorWhatever I feel like, is the smartass answer.
My band is a blues influenced rock band. I don’t want to throw too many genres in there, so we’ll just call it rock. Personally, I tend to write the post-rock/psychedelic noise stuff, but the rest of the band doesn’t really go for that.December 22, 2008 at 9:21 pm #89509Ned FlandersModeratorMy music is a cross between sonic youth, kinski, nirvana, dinosaur jr, earth and the melvins.
I don’t adhere to one genre of music, just what ever comes out comes out.

We’re only high schoolers so be nice with your criticisms, haha. Honestly though, I’d like to have your feedback, especially on the track 2003: A Space Oddysey. I have a solo on that on which I used a Stereo Electric Mistress.Tell me what you guys think!

I do some electronica, with lots of phsycadelic, analog stuff, which usually takes the form of a bluesy synth solo over a trance rhythm part. I can’t tell you what it sounds like, because it came about completely by accident and not design. I’m also in a jam band. We do a lot of Pink Floyd type stuff, with some Police and Black Sabbath thrown in for good measure.

Thanks!
I like your band’s songs Hey Michael! and 2003 the best. The guitar and bass parts are pretty cool, especially the noisy and surfy stuff. There Stereo Electric Mistress part is that crazy part at the end right? I really dug that.
Keep it up! Just remember to never stop writing and never stop exploring music.
December 23, 2008 at 8:44 am #89536Jules-RMMemberPost-Punk. More specifically a cross between Joy Division’s DIY minimalism, U2s occasional anthemic proclivities, Chameleon’s ear for melody, and… well they aren’t Post-Punk (apart from the Machina album), but Smashing Pumpkins-esque love of a good riff. There’s a bit of Syd era Pink Floyd tomfoolery thrown in as well.
Mostly we just sound like ourselves. We give each member of the group free reign to write their own bits, makes for more original writing.
Link is in the sig, but we desperately need to record new material. We’re got an album and a half of new material that hasn’t been recorded yet.
