what does it do??
Basically, it takes an input signal then mixes it with another signal, usually internally generated. The resulting signal is the sum and difference of the 2 frequencies.
You put in 4KHz with an internal 12KHz: you get 16KHz and 8KHz. The result is mathematically related, but not always musically related, to the input frequencies.
