Hello,
I’ve tried to use the EHX Voicebox live a couple of times and have had very different results than I have had a practice. I am primarily using the Vocoder and the Whistle modes, low gain, no phantom power. I am running a guitar through for the vocoder and the whistle shouldn’t matter one way or another. I am using the power supply that came with the unit.
No problems at practice, however, running through a club PA gives the mic signal massive amounts of hiss and makes it highly susceptible to feedback… but doesn’t seem to be particularly loud. I have tried multiple outlets, unplugging the guitar cables, even unplugging the mic input cable and at 3 different clubs I have still had the problem (to varying degrees).
I usually end up not using it because of time constraints.
Any suggestions? I’m no live sound pro, but is there something I should be doing on the box or with my cables? Mics don’t seem to be the issue (or at least the main issue), maybe it’s something simple I am overlooking?
Any insight would be helpful! Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I guess you tried to switch the mic gain and see what happens?
I use mine with a dynamic mic (Shure 58) and I’d swear I have it set for high gain, but I’m not sure, I’ll check out later at home and let you know.
Best Regards
P.
I agree with the previous post. When on low gain I have to jack the volume up so high it brings noise into the equation. On high gain this is not an issue though you may have to cut volume some and tweak it a little more.
Thanks for your input. I will try that approach an see how it works.
