Are you looking to output audio from Ableton to be run through the V256 or to output MIDI control to the V256?

By “mid channel” do you mean MIDI channel?

The V256 only accepts MIDI on channel 16 so first ensure you set up Ableton to output on Channel 16.

Here are some steps to ensuring the V256 is working correctly with Ableton:

    1. First make sure the V256’s vocal channel is working correctly. Plug in a microphone, and connect the XLR OUTPUT to a mixer or audio interface. Use the microphone and make sure you can hear your dry vocal in your set up.

    2. Turn the V256 knobs to the following settings: all knobs to 12 o’clock or 50%, except BLEND which should be set to maximum. Turn the MODE knob clockwise until VOX-ROBO 1 is lit.

    3. Now engage the V256 by pressing the MIC BYPASS footswitch, the MIC BYPASS LED should now be lit. Speak through the microhpone, you should hear a robotic version of your voice. If you do, turn the PITCH knob to change the pitch of the robotic voice.

    4. Turn the PITCH knob on the V256 all the way down so there is no effect.

    5. Make sure Ableton is set to output MIDI notes on channel 16.

    6. Have Ableton send notes to MIDI channel 16 and then speak into the microphone. Now you should hear your voice through the vocoder effect and the vocoder should follow the notes created by Ableton.
