At last: my first Memory Man
Sweet! Congrats on your new purchase.
I’ve always wondered how those V1 Memory Man units sound. Are they really noisy? Hiss? Distorted repeats? Clock whine?
My ’78 4 knob Deluxe units are pretty grungy, but I love them anyways.
Nice. Get that on ebay? There was one for $199 BIN in insanely good condition (like yours) that I was sorely tempted on, but I’m not that into collecting for collectings sake. I’ll wait for a vintage deluxe to appear. Glad it’s found a good home though. If it’s the same one the guy mentioned it was quite noisy after he had recapped it. Interesting bit of trivia he mentioned was that in the next version EHX compressed the signal before entering the chip and expanded it after it came out in an attempt to reduce noise.
That sounds like the one I bought
I couldn’t try it yet, that’s probably something for the weekend…

Give us the report when you can :thumb:
I’d be curious to know how many SAD1024s they stuffed into it. I think the ’78 DMM uses 5.
I have to find my 110V converter somewhere

I have a couple of those and they have 3 SAD1024. They’re definitely noisier than later units because of the lack of a 570/571 compander.
