As we all know some vintage EHX units reach very high prices on the auction sites and collectors shops. But some can still be found for a decent price, if you want to start your vintage collection, but lack the funds to go and buy that vintage triangle Big Muff you’ve been looking at… start here!!!
other users: please show/tell/advise us about your vintage bargains.
First pedal on my list is the ‘Switchblade’ these can sometimes be bought as cheaply as a new nano version, which makes them a real vintage bargain….ok, it’s not the most exciting thing in the EHX line-up but for a genuine slice of vintage EHX goodness for little money it’s a good way to start your vintage collection without having your house reposessed!
it’s a standard A/B box with an input on the face of the unit and the two outputs at the top. There’s not much to go wrong with these and replacing the jacks or switch would be very easy if something did fail.
November 1, 2008 at 1:42 pm #86688MINGMemberWhat does the alt/on switch do?
November 1, 2008 at 8:39 pm #86675Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:What does the alt/on switch do?The alt position allows you to switch between output 1 or 2.
The on position allows you to switch between out 1 or output 1+2 simultaneously.November 2, 2008 at 12:44 am #86698electro-melxModeratorQuote:Quote:What does the alt/on switch do?The alt position allows you to switch between output 1 or 2.

The on position allows you to switch between out 1 or output 1+2 simultaneously.Since I have 2 vintage Switchblades, I did a fun mod to one of them this weekend.
With the slide switch in the on position, it is a bypass looper with one loop. I use it for my Space Echo RE-101.
With the slide switch in the alt position, it is a channel switcher.I just had to change the 1pdt footswitch to a 3pdt, and drill an extra hole for an output jack below the input jack.

I recently saw a Slapback Echo sell for about $90. I wished I had bid on it.
The other 3 you listed don’t appear as often on eBay anymore; and when they do, they usually now sell for more than $100. But you’re right, there was a time not too long ago when you could find them cheaper.November 26, 2008 at 2:24 pm #87732DiscoFreqParticipantAverages since +/- februari:

Slap-Back Echo ($99.7325)I removed those which probably have a lot of false matches (like modern pedals with the same name), I should check the list of auctions for these too to give more correct prices
The Zipper has a lot of matches for the Tube Zipper (more expensive), so I should remove these first.

At an avg of $73.5, the White Finger is the greatest bargain in the world. It’s a phenomenal compressor!
Where do you get your stats, DiscoFreq?November 26, 2008 at 2:58 pm #87737DiscoFreqParticipantQuote:At an avg of $73.5, the White Finger is the greatest bargain in the world. It’s a phenomenal compressor!
Where do you get your stats, DiscoFreq?I show results for each pedal on my site when you open that page and I keep that data (title, ebay auction number,…). After the auction closed I update that data with the price and number of bids.
Since a few days I’m also searching for matches when the page was not visited.
For this list I only used the results for closed auctions with bids: unsold auctions and BINs are excluded (I can’t get the status of a BIN auction, working on that).
For the white finger (I forgot to remove it from the list as it’s not vintage) I only had 2 such auctions in my DB, the rest were BIN auctions (usually BIN = new pedals for models that are in production).
