a)I own a Version 1 Big Muff bought from Manny’s 09-23-1970 (I still have the bill!)with the number 1472201-1 304-6618 stamped on a pot. The circuit says nothing. Can the pot number be used to determine the date of manufacturing and eventualy estimate how this compares with the earliest built? (like, it was made 5 months after the first ones appeared).

b)It’s never being used on a stage, obviously has the 39 year old 2N5133’s and SPT87-133’s and even the original rubber anti skid mat on the bottom. It is in very good “cosmetic” condition (shows a bit of use) – the only thing not original is the Tone pot and a DC jack which I added due to the Big Muff’s battery guzzling characteristics. I haven’t seen any Version 1’s for sale on Ebay (there is a VERY good Version 2 today bid $ 570) so I have no clue regarding the value of my unit, which I want to sell. Can somebody guide me ?

The pot code means nothing in this case. Mike had a huge lot of surplus ’66 pots he used until at least 1972, which is the earliest non-66 date I’ve found.

Thank you for your reply – have you any ideas regarding my second question – ie: market price range of a 1970 Version 1?

Big Muff’s don’t have ‘battery guzzling characteristics’ if yours does, it might have a problem.

If you already read the thread, then you know that your question is out of line.
We do not do valuations here as it’s a fluctuating market and what we say could change in the next few hours as the current “flavor of the month” guitarist decides he likes the item in question.

I have seen triangles on ebay, I’ve even sold a couple.

Thank you once again – If it is not private information, would you please advise within what price range (minimum and maximum)they were sold at? This is very important for me.

    Best regards

    I’ve seen/heard of $5 to $1000.

    Thread is now locked.
