I just picked up a used Double Muff. I cleaned it up and, it works excellent. I also have a nano Double Muff I picked up about a year ago or so. I use to have an original Muff Fuzz and, like an idiot I traded it for some tuners. I was really dumb back then! I wanted one of these since I saw the demo on Pro Guitar. I tried it out with one of my one watters and, it was over the top cool. When I’m off work I will try it out on my some of my Fender amps and, on my two low-watt Marshalls. I bet through a C5H head it slays!
The Double Muff (DM) is a great pedal. I love how it can work as a fuzz, an overdrive or even a gritty boost. I always use mine in the double mode – it’s cool because there are so many sounds available depending on which Muff circuit you use as the master volume and which one you use as the “preamp”. If you crank Muff 2 and keep Muff 1 down low you get killer 70s fuzz with good compression and a smooth but slightly saggy bottom end. When you do the opposite you get more of hi-fi type overdrive with really nice transient detail. When you keep both Muffs around 12’o’clock you get a nice clean volume boost with a very clear top end. The other majorly cool thing is how well the DM cleans up from the guitar’s volume pot. Hands down a super-cool and underrated pedal. Some people might like to replace the sliding switch with a footswitch if they wanted to switch between single and double mode on the fly. I just love the double mode!
