my names rob jones and I’m from wales in the uk. i love the EHX products my favourites being the Tube range! i have a hot tubes which i think is excellent and has a fabulous tone and beefy overdrivedistortion… intact a bit too beefy for me so i decided to look into the tubes used.
HOT TUBES uses 12ax7 tubes so i bought some 12ay7’s and immediately loved the lesser gain and seemingly much larger spectrum of sound from nearly clean to great blues rock overdrive.
this got me thinking why don’t EHX create a pedal that has a series of banks of the different tube types which could be switchable by onboard toggle and footswitch this would allow sculpting of tonal possibilities especially if you could actually switch between two different tube types e.g. 12ax7 and 12ay7 or 12ay7 and 12at7 etc
it would also be great to have two outputs allowing for signal splitting to two amps similar to the lpb-2ubes
this pedal would be great and save time manually changing tubes to change the tone and gain capacity of the pedal!
you could call it the ‘TONE-ALYZER’ or ‘TONE-INSTEIN’ or something lol
I’m sorry if what i have suggested is not possible but my electrical knowledge is very limited!!! cheers rob
