LPB-2ube . English Muffin . Tube Zipper
Play a Les Paul Jr. through a Reeves Custom 12 ( very power tube Hiwatt sounding ). Enjoy my tone but want to warm it up a bit as well as add some smooth overdrive when needed.
LPB-2ube looks like a good fit, possibly no coloration, but can it provide a decent overdrive. Unable to find any sound clips.
English Muffin sounds great, but seems to only have that one “english” sound. Not sure how it would react with my amp. Don’t want to color my tone too much.
Tube Zipper, wow does this do a lot. Haven’t heard any sound clips of just the overdrive section.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
or the Hot Tubes?
it’s a dilemma I can’t really answer!
Musiciansfriend has clips of the 2Ube. And it can be overdriven, if you cascade one channel into the other.
Cool thanks … I’ll check that site for some sound clips.
Yeah the Hot Tubes too, but I have had a hard time finding them. I also heard rumors they going to be discontinued?
The Hot Tubes are a limited edition run which they’re producing with parts they have left over. So basically they’re discontinued, but I guess they pop up on eBay. Dunno if Hot Tubes can give a subtle overdrive…
I’d go for the tube zipper just because it is the weirdest
hot tubes for.. being useful and having incredible tone
tube zipper for awesome fun!
Get the tube zipper! it’s really cool.
NOT a rumour…
Yes, it can.
I’ve never tried the LPB-2ube or the English Muff’n; but I love the Hot Tubes and the Tube Zipper. The Hot Tubes is more flexible as a straight ahead overdrive. The Tube Zipper can isolate the overdrive, but it’s focus / strength is in the combination of the overdrive and the envelope filter.
