Home › Forums › Help/Technical Questions › TUBE EQ “CRACKS ANDS SPARKS” NOISE WHEN RECORDING. PLEASE HELP!
Hi, I go a TUBE EQ and I get constant “cracks” like trebly “little sparks” sounds (sorry for my english I can’t find the right word!). It is unusable for recording like this. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I know a couple people (me included) have been having some similar problems with other tube petals:

i wonder if these could be related?
Have you tried new tubes?
Cuppajack, just read your thread regarding the muff. I don’t think your AC15 has nothing to do with it since I get my static pops going directly to the sound card with no amp. Here is the chain: EBS MULTICOMP > EHX TUBE EQ > SOLE-MATE REVERB > TONEPORT UX2 > iMAC G5 > GEARBOX
The pops only appear when the Tube EQ is ON, when it’s OFF the chain is dead silent. I was wondering if it could be the tubes but I read you alredy tried changing them witn no results. I also noticed the pedal is badly shielded, if I get the transfomer a bit close to it I can hear a hum coming out directly from the box. The pedal is useless like this, I bought it to shape the tone for recording analogically not having to resort to digital modelling and stuff. I can’t take it back to the shop because I bought it a while ago but it was just sitting there in a box because I stopped recording for a long time. Solutions anyone?
I was going to get new ones just to try but read cuppajack´s thread with the same problem with a tube pedal and it did not solve his.
By the way, great music in your myspace, cheer up!
