I have a Fender 2×12 combo with the stock tubes in it. I want to replace them with some EHX tubes but I am not sure which way to go. I play heavy doom/stoner influenced stuff (Sabbath, etc. inspired). Any suggestions? I also use an old Sunn 4×12 cabinet as an extension. I don’t know much/anything about tubes so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
– Thanks!
I’d keep it name brand loyal just so you don’t run into any problems mid gig. I once had my rumble bass retubed with EH pre amps and Ruby power tubes because I thought it would be cool to get rid of the stock Fender tubes. I wasn’t a happy camper a few months later when I had to spend another small fortune on having it retubed again. I havent had any problems with it since I went back to Fenders. When you do retube it change the fuses aswell. Only Fender slo blow fuses will do in my rumble bass.
