Home › Forums › Help/Technical Questions › Tone Switch issue on Big Muf Pi Tone Wicker
Hi all,
I just acquired a big muff pi tone wicker pedal. After only having the change to play with it for a short while earlier this evening, it seems like the tone switch isn’t functioning right.
When turning it off it comes close to completely cutting my volume. If I really start to crank my amp I get some sound back but still no where near where the volume should be.
My rig includes a Blackstar HT 40 and Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe. I tried the pedal through my Fender Mustang III too and experienced the same problem.
If anyone has any ideas on what the problem might be feel free to share. I am posting because I won’t really get the chance to test it out more until tomorrow afternoon but I’ll be able to check back on here during the day.
Well I played with it a little more earlier this morning. The tone switch seems to be cutting the sound off for some reason. If I flip it off but then give it just a bit of pressure the other way and hold it, it works…
sounds like it’s either a bad switch or it might just be a bad solder joint. You could open up the pedal and touch up the solder joints on the switch.
Thanks for the reply. That’s more than I want to get into with new pedal so I am going to exchange it.
The great news is I love the sound coming from it!
I have literally just got my hands on one of these and have the same problem, but in reverse! When I switch the tone switch to on it completely cuts out, but if I apply a little pressure it kicks in. I’m a little lazy and wondered how easy the solder job would be, assuming that’s the only thing that could be wrong with it.
I have one that does the exact same thing. I sent it back to EHX under warranty. They sent it back, but apparently they don’t keep records of repairs so I have no idea if they ever did anything about it. I am just going to sell it, because it seems to be a common problem.
