The nano mistress is a quality flanger that can give a wid variety of vary good tones, even though it only has to knobs: Fact or Crap. I’ve got a poll up there. I’d love to here your thoughts on whether the nano mistress is a serious flanger or just a cheap toy. Thanks!

i think there’s a bit of middle ground; it’s for someone that wants ‘that swirly sound like the cure have’ but doesn’t want to tweak it. It’s not a toy because they aren’t plastic enclosures or going to fall apart instantly. it’s also not a tweakers dream for controllability. it’s the entry level flanger and that’s all.

I mainly wanted to know in the act of saving money. I’m kind of annoyed by the fact that the second switch is feedback, when most would want a depth switch.

I got my Neo Mistress last week. I think it is awesome for what it modestly is–a somewhat versatile flanger that produces an array of classic flange sounds, as well as some interesting metallic cleans and that over-the-top sound that is characteristic of EHX pedals. I didn’t want anything more than this, so the Neo Mistress is perfect for my purposes. I have it front of the amp, which sounds better to me than in the FX loop, and the true bypass feature is a plus. Definitely worth having if you want a reliable, simple flanger.

actually this isn’t too uncommon a setup. the mxr micro flanger has the same controls, aside from not having a portion of its rate knob dedicated to a filter matrix. you have to pay more for a depth control. :p
