    Wow man, I must be doing something wrong..
    Here’s what I’m doing…guitar or bass direct into pedal…right (mono) input to right output into my yamaha 16 tr.
    internal preamp down on the yam..completely, as it should be, confidently.

    Gain on EHX at 12 noon, volume..ALL THE WAY.
    I barely read -18 db on my input signal for the yamaha recorder 16 trk.
    Everything is flatted, everywhere..I’ve even double staged the pedal, utilizing it;s full drive potential with both tubes and still I have to crank this thing just to push 18 to -12 db’s.
    Are you kidding me??
    My cables are tested and good, my recorder input signals are not lying…I thought this thing was supposed to be a PRE?

    Any suggestions?
    Am I missing something?

    ps..the tube fatness is DEF there but I can’t make it loud without complete chaotic distortion?
    and even then…-18 db…damnit, Jim…damnit

    I don’t think I’d turn the Yamaha preamp down completely. The pedal needs some signal to work with.

    From the instruction sheet:

    INPUT LEVEL Switch -Selects between LO and HI input level. The LO setting will provide more overall gain through the LPB-2ube, the HI setting provides less gain. If the input signal is from a low-level source such as a guitar or an instrument that uses pickups, then the LPB-2ube will work best in the LO setting. If the input signal is from a line level source such as a synthesizer, sampler, or mixer, the LPB-2ube will work best in the HI-setting. This switch controls both the left and the right channels simultaneously.

    Have you tried using it w/ the Yamaha alone and with the switch in the HI setting?

    Hmm.
    Anyway, yeah, this dosen’t provide voulem, it provides calrity and punch but needs assistance with another preamp of some sort..OK..I can work with it. Fine, fine
