Home › Forums › Help/Technical Questions › Synth 9 – mod to remove dry output on STNTH output socket
I have just bought a synth 9 pedal, and love it – apart from one thing which is bugging me!
I am using the DRY output as my “through” signal to my guitar rig, and “Synth” output to the PA. I use a tuner pedal to mute the direct signal to my guitar amp when using the synth modes.
My problem is this – when the synth 9 is operating, it is possible to remove the dry signal by turning the “DRY” pot right down. However, when the pedal is in bypass mode (i.e synth effect off, Red LED off) – the dry signal still goes to the PA.
I really don’t want a dry, clean guitar signal going the PA when the synth 9 is off!
How can I mod this pedal so that the “Synth” output is only active when the pedal is on? Is it as simple as changing the foot switch for one with more poles, and routing the syth output through it so that the switch selects between GROUND and the SYNTH outputs, depending on whether the synth mode is on or off?
No you can not mod it but the easy fix is an A/B box.
Take the dry guitar out to your amp and the synth out to an the input of the A/B box. Then one of the outputs goes to
the PA. Then leave the 9 pedal on and switch the send to the PA on and off with the A/B box.
Brilliant! – Thanks, yes I think this is the answer!
Strange how the dry guitar signal can be removed from the synth output when the effect is on, but not when it is off? I think an internal switch to select this option on or off would be a useful improvement!
Thanks for your help!
Yes in hindsight I wish we had done that!
