I would think that using a compressor before the SE would work as well. I’ve used a Pigtronix Philosopher’s Tone before the SE & it seems to work well. I have tried a clean OD but it didn’t seem to be any different from a COMP.
Same Problem. In front of superego I’ve put the POG-2 and before this was the philosophers tone. I’ve changed this. It was to noisy.
But I love superego. SmallStone, NeoClone and a VolumePedal in send-return, sometimes the POG-2 (relay crazy), it works well in all3 modes. You have to learn the use and interaction of the potis. Never would give away. Next perhaps the Microsynth
After the drive and before delay/reverb. SamllStone and a flanger or NeoClone in the loop. Use of VolumePedal helps infront of returnSE helps.
thx for reply

Sorry, but I’m confused as to what the problem is. Is the SuperEgo not picking up what you are playing or is something noisy ? If it’s a noise problem, your pedal must be defective because the one thing I’ve never had a problem with is noise with the SuperEgo. Even a noisy OD before the SuperEgo doesn’t make any difference because the OD isn’t coming through the pedal, it’s only providing a signal for the SuperEgo to do it’s thing. Now, noise may be coming through the DRY out. Otherwise, I’m not sure what is going on.
