Just got my Super Pulsar from Matt at the Mad Ape & so far it is a bit like the Flanger Hoax. You must expect to spend some time getting all the features under your control. Although you can just twiddle knobs & push buttons to see what happens, doing the very non-guy thing & taking a look at the manual will makes things even less easy to understand. Some of the settings are easy to set up but you may not always get what you are expecting. Then, of course, the lightbulb eventually goes off ( or burns out ) & you suddenly get what’s going on. One of my attempts was using my MOLTEN VOLTAGE MIDI to CLOCK box to sync the Pulsar to Cubase. Since I had already had the experience getting my Roland Juno-6 to sync, I had a few tricks to try to get the Pulsar working & after a few tries, pretty much got it working well enough to produce a usable track.
So far, I completely love this pedal & it’s a definite keeper. EHX has produced a very feature full & high quality box. My hopes are that we’ll quickly see a template for settings so someone ( Bill, are you reading this? ) will start posting some of the settings, like in his video. I have only recorded the pedal direct, so my next attempt will be running it through my Orange amp to hear how that works. If I had a big wish, it would be that MIDI prg changes would have been really handy because of all the possibilities this pedal has, I’m not sure how just 9 internal presets are going to do the job.
