    Hey Folks,

I’ve owned a slew of EHX pedals over the years, usually have at least one on my board at any given time.

Anyway I’ve been really curious about the Super Ego synth engine, but had a question I can’t find an obvious answer to on the demo vids I’ve seen, etc.

This pedal has the function to run an effects loop and send the WET signal through additional effects. Demo vids I’ve seen have made amazing use of this by routing the wet signal through, Reverb, Chorus, Octave effects, etc.

But what about when the Super Ego is turned OFF? Would that mean any pedals in the loop are just unavailable? I like the idea of sticking a phaser and chorus pedal in the loop but not if I can ONLY use those pedals with the Super Ego from then on.

    Thoughts?

Hi- I have a Superego and it’s a great pedal. However any pedals in the loop are unavailable when the Superego is bypassed. You could probably work around it using some sort of looping arrangement but it would be fiddly. Just one modulation type pedal in the loop sounds great though. You don’t really need to put reverb or delays in the loop as it has a reverberant quality of its own. If you like droney krautrocky or psychedelic type music you’ll love this pedal.

hello guys, would like to know some informations about this cool effect… where it should be placed in the pedalboard?…at the moment my pedalboard is:
    TU2
    WAH
    SOUL PREACHER
    BASSBALLS
    SOULFOOD
    BIGMUFF
    WIGGLER
    SMALL STONE
    DELUXE ELECTRIC MISTRESS
    DELUXE MEMORY MAN
    STEREO MEMORY MAN HAZARAI
    HOLY GRAIL
    SUPEREGO
    DIGITECH JAMMAN LOOPER
    ..so is it correct?
my opinion is that have a light delay when press n freeze the sound in the latch n momentary mode…
    thx for reply

Yes not a bad idea to put it near the end of the chain as you might not necessarily want it going through your overdrive/ distortion pedals- but on the other hand though… Haven’t tried it with a looper pedal so I’m not much help I’m afraid. Obviously one of those pedals that encourages experimentation.

I’ve tried separating & recombining the my muff & monkey from the superego with a Boss LS-2 mixer pedal (or you could use a small mixing desk) – it works, but it will take up a lot of room on your board!

Have a look at this thread- https://www.ehx.com/forums/viewthread/5947/

I suppose you would just split the signal before the Muff & Soulfood & merge it after them. I admit I find it hard to think through all the possible permutations of your signal chain (I’ve never been any good at chess either).

I think your best bet would be to get a splitter/ merger pedal & experiment. They are very useful pedals to have anyway- I have a Boss LS-2. They’re cheap, useful in many applications, and I’ve noticed no tone-suck whatever the gear snobs say.
