Over the last few months something has gone wrong with the bypass switch on my Stereo Memory Man. When activated it blinks uncontrollably and only sometimes catches and works. Usually this happens while using the loop function. It renders the pedal useless for any live loop capabilities as far as being dependable. I’ve also noticed a similar phenomenon with my ehx pulsar pedal. When engaged, the volume is cut to about a quarter of what it was. Only by pressing the bypass halfway down does this stop. Any ideas? Switches worn out? How do I go about replacing them?
the pulsar switch seems to be bad, but i don’t know about the SMMH
well, i’d probably send it to EHX, because i don’t know anything about soldering
I’d suggest finding out what kind of switch it is first. If the switch is the actual issue, it may be a really easy repair. I know that on a lot of the new EHX pedals there is a separate little PCB that the switches are mounted on, and then they connect that board to the main circuit. If thats the case (it being on a separate PCB and just being a simple momentary switch to control the tap/loop), it’s most likely a simple repair. If its NOT the switch though, and is the circuitry that the switch controls, then that wouldn’t be an easy fix. You could try posting a picture of the switch area and see if an admin/employee could tell you something (though the SMMH is a highly complex circuit).
