The demo video by that one funk dude is really crazy and not very helpful. Here’s a plainer review: you can play with your fingers and make it sound like you’re playing with a pick. It has a voice of its own, but its very subtle. You can put it after fuzz pedals to emphasize different things about the fuzz depending on how it’s set and how you play. It adds a lot of dynamics to distortion. When you have it set higher, it sounds very clinical and strange on its own. When you have it cranked you can get a really disgusting Big Black kind of bass sound (think “Pigeon Kill”). It may be the opposite of a compressor, but it has a similar kind of end result. With a compressor, you hear more complex mids that are brought to the fore. With the Steel Leather, you hear more complex treble. I got it cheap, so I’m plenty impressed for the cash. Anyone else have it?
I’ve never played one, but thanks for the review!!!
Pigeon Kill!!
I was huge into Big Black a few years ago.
i wonder how it’d sound on guitar…
i was wondering this too
I was wondering too, i bought one yesterday.
Hope to get it soon.
This pedal drives me crazy. I am impressed.
It works also for guitar. It fits, when you
want to play fast riffs, palmutes and so.
It helps a lot the definition of your sound
and gives more bite in the highs.
Like EHX pedals you can drive it almost freaky.
I play a Bird Treble Booster into a Big Muff Pi.
Above Effect Level 9 o clock, the pick noise was too loud.
I modded it, so you can use it with pick on guitar.
It gives more definition and bite to your playing.
