New to this platform, but have been a fan of EHX pedals for decades.
I owned a Sovtek BM Pi Bubble Font years ago, and left it behind at a jam, never to be seen again. Recently, I’ve had the itch, and decided to pull the trigger on a new one (paying like 5 times the price, but I was ok with it, coz it was my fault for losing it).
Issue: when I play it at low volumes, or with soft dynamics, it begins to sputter out almost like there’s a noise gate or like germanium fuzz that needs biasing.
I opened it up, and tested the diodes with multimeter, and didn’t get the obnoxious fail beep, so I moved on to check a few resistors.
It’s hard to get to the caps, as they are low on the board, and I’m afraid to move the transistors around to get to them, though I’m afraid if that is the issue.
I’ve built a few pedals, but I’m still fairly new to the troubleshooting game. Please help!
Side note….yes I tested the battery and swapped out a few to double check. AND I played it alone, off the pedal board….
Update: I purchased a set of pots from Moskow. Fingers crossed. I will test mine tomorrow, but they are good to have on backup anyway.
Tested the pots, tone pot is reading around 80K… could that cause this issue?
