I have a 2X12 loaded with mixed Celestions and find it too dark or maybe not enuff wattage… is that 4×12? my 4×12 is a Peavey with Schefield 70″s for a 280 watt cab… and is the most incredible match to the MiG 100h.

It’s a 4×12 loaded with two Celetion Vintage 30s and two Celetion G12H30s. The idea is to start swapping speakers to fit my tone needs. It’s current loadout is at 120watts if I was to replace the G12H30s with two more Vintage 30s it would go up to 240 watts. I’ve been using a 90s Vox AC30 TB/6 with Greenbacks as my main amp and needed something with a little more lowend. I’m looking forward to useing both these amps together if I can match their volumes well. I’m playing a 61 reissue SG and a 52 reissue Telecater through them.

Yup that’s exactly what I have for my 2X12 (a Celetion Vintage 30 and a Celetion G12H30) for my MiG 50, but I find it a little too dark.
October 5, 2011 at 4:41 am #116096ravenscryerMemberWell the Avatar cab sounds great with it. Not too dark for me and I’m used to my Vox AC30/6tb with Greenbacks. My Mig 100 was running two EL34s to cut the power from 100w to 50w. I let a tech talk me into going back up to four EL34s. I’m not sure if they’re brighter than using 6L6s but that’s a major difference from most Mig 100s. Maybe I should have put 6L6s back in but the guy I bought the amp from thought it was a great combination. It’s so loud now with four power tubes. I played a bigger venue last week and had to keep the master volume around 2 with the amp power turned to 6.5.
April 2, 2012 at 1:37 am #117220syncopaMemberHello all… I bought a MiG 50 last year, it happens to be an orange face 50. Anyone have any experience with one of these? It came set up with 5881 power tubes. It really didn’t seem to have the “balls” it should have, output was rather flimsy. I have a MiG 100 that I am kinda comparing it to. Anyway, should this thing be running EL 34’s? It did have some rather different circuitry on the output sockets, and I figured someone was trying some odd filtering so I changed everything to run the 5881’s as I know it. It now sounds better than it did when I first got it, but since EL 34’s run higher heater current, I thought it may really sound better if I rewire for EL 34’s as it may have been designed. Anyone with any experience with an orange faced MiG 50, and what they were originally wired up for?

Thanks… Any idea why the orange faceplate then? Like muffs, what was there that day?
April 2, 2012 at 9:34 am #117252The EH ManModeratorThose are made after Sovtek quit carrying them. There’s a factory in Russia that still churns them out but not for Sovtek.
May 15, 2012 at 3:45 am #117554JimmyZMemberNot sure if I had posted on this amp,but I found a Sovtek MIG100 on a curb…sounds great on 2-4/12 Marshall JCM800 Cabs after sent to John Nau for repairs. He also overhauled my (original)Marshall Super lead 100 1959 head.
Took many years to obtain my gear. But was very lucky as the Marshall head was purchased used for about 50$ 32 yrs ago.The amp without the cabinet on top of the Sovtek is a Marshall MG100 HDFX 100 W bought for $5.00 at an auction ! My mom actually remembered me saying Marshall my whole life and bought it…mom rulz.
One last comment…the guitar in the center has a white pickup. It is from a guitar Paul Stanley smashed on stage.Believe it or not…it sounds fantastic.
[img][/img]May 15, 2012 at 1:44 pm #117558CryabetesParticipantany of those digitech multieffects have the xp300’s presets on them?
May 15, 2012 at 11:50 pm #117564JimmyZMemberCan you be more specific on the presets?
Honestly…not quite sure what you mean.
Both RP7 and RP20 have the factory presets.
I have yet to interface the RP20 to a PC.May 15, 2012 at 11:57 pm #117565JimmyZMemberNever mind…found the answer and now understand what you asked.

No…do not have the presets and just learned the XP300 existed.
Sounds like that model has a bible sized manualMay 17, 2012 at 5:33 pm #117568CryabetesParticipantyeah. the XP300 is kind of my holy grail of digital processors that I have yet to track down. and I think it kept with the digitech tradition of not giving you much of anything other than a program list (with no real explanations) in the manual.
sorry to hijack the thread.
