I just spent thirty minutes in heaven hearing the sound that’s been in my head for thirty years! I’ve looked high and low (and I mean low!) for the sound that just flew out of my guitar. My Soul Food well exceeded all expectations and the volume knob on my strat may get lonely in the coming months. I’m plugging into a Fender Mustang V half stack with the ’57 Champ model set for clean, and using the vintage 4X12 cab setting but nothing else. The reaction to my picking and fingering technique brings about a sound I thought I’d never find…EXTREMELY EXPRESSIVE and DYNAMIC! I have found the perfect companion to the guitar I built and call my NO.1.

Where it really shines is through a tube amp. This pedal works well through every amp I’ve played it through so far. I like the power supply as well. It does not add noise with my better gear so far.

I completely agree with what has been said here. I was considering paying up to $200 for a boutique overdrive when a guitar store guy put the Soul Food in my hand. After about thirty seconds playing through a vintage Gretsch in the store, I was sold. When I got it home, it sounded even better on my own rig. The shimmering tone is just rough enough but also extremely responsive. I could sit strumming chords and listening to the tone for hours. Every EH product I’ve purchased is of excellent quality, and they all work together seamlessly. Thanks EH!
