1st post! Hello! Anyway…
Since the Holy Grail has now officially been XO’d, and what with the white finger going the same way recently, will all the older ‘trapezoid’ chassis pedals be reissued?
And what else is left now? The original POG, the HOG? How long until they go the same way? (And here’s hoping the POG will have a gloss finish to it too!)
April 11, 2009 at 1:02 am #95549SupremePancakeMemberNot sure about the Hog, Flanger Hoax, and the 2880
The only ones left so far are Polychorus, Holier Grail, Holiest Grail, POG, Deluxe Memory Man (outside of Europe), and hopefully Deluxe Electric Mistress.April 11, 2009 at 2:01 am #95552mhuxtableMemberI sure hope not, but that seems to be the way things are going.
I know it is all about the future, and better real estate and blah blah blah.
But what about TRADITION!?! I love those big boxes. I think they look amazing, they are easier to mod, and I know they are supposed to be exact replicas in the XO & nano enclosures, but really, those smaller parts DO have an effect on the sound (no matter how slight). And I HATE the excuse of “I can fit more pedals on my board.” I mean really, I think people who are obsessive enough about ehx to post on this board are pretty handy and crafty people…BUILD A BIGGER BOARD. Thats what I am about to do. I currently have no board, but I need one, but I also know I love the big pedals and I am going to have a LOT of pedals (I am at 9 right now I think?), so I know I need a larger board, or 2 smaller ones side by side.
PLEEEEASE dont XO & nano everything…
Until then, I am on an EHX buying spree (trying to get as much stuff in the big boxes that I have wanted while I still can).
AHA! Maybe thats the key…get the lovers of all things new buying up all the smaller enclosures due to the excitement of more pedal board space AND get the old school lovers buying up all the old things all at one time!!! EHX you are a marketing genius.
But yes, I prefer the larger enclosures.
April 11, 2009 at 5:59 am #95555julianModeratorIdeally I’d like to have one of each.
Ever try carrying an 8 foot long 2 feet deep board to a gig?
That’s why I like XO.
April 11, 2009 at 11:29 am #95558nightravenMemberi doubt it’s possible to shrink the Flanger Hoax or the HOG
April 11, 2009 at 11:40 am #95559I’ll be posting a bit of news soon And, welcome to the EHX forums, Snufkin!

I have a Rondo Gigantic board that I’ve carried to gigs: http://www.rondomusic.com/pdc410i.html
Not quite 8′ long, but it’s like carrying a heavy keyboard around. Possible with one person, but safer with two.

Interesting…
As for the pedalboard issues, I’ve actually found it easier to place the older enclosures for a board, since the jacks are top-mounted.

April 12, 2009 at 1:09 am #95575BlueSteelParticipantI think that some pedals wont be XO’ed like the flanger hoax and i hope not the big muff pi, but i think that, although i like the look of the sheet metal cases better, i would rather have smaller pedals, than the hugh ones. i think its great that they are making big pedals like the frequency analyzer and P.O.G. and the holy grail, small clone, and small stone smaller. it definitely saves room on the pedalboard for more stuff.

Obviously some people are immediately going to try and drive prices through the roof, but these people are nothing more than opportunists and prices won’t likely raise by much for at LEAST a couple of years.
