Hi, I’m brand new to the forum, but not new to EHX products.
I just bought a 1980 Small Stone and I have a question or two. By the way these can still be bought for well under $100, I payed $55 shipped.
Anyways, I’ve noticed a tick every time the phaser “recycles” in the strong phase mode. It is subtle enough that it makes me wonder if a good internal cleaning would help get rid of the noise.
Q: Is this tick inherent to the Small Stone circuit or a quality issue?
This is my first phaser, but not my first EHX modulation effect, so I know that these things aren’t always the quietest boxes.
Thanks in advance for any input.
My small stone is a v3, and there is no tick. Might be a simple component that has aged and needs replacing. Maybe an op amp.
Thanks for the advice. I will likely just go in there with some Deoxit and clean all of the connections.
Either way, I’m still really happy with this pedal. I haven’t gotten around to it, but I am excited about running my Theremin into the Small Stone. I think that I will be able to get some real classic synth tones.
