I did a bit of research on the web and info about which resistors to change for which version [strong]Small Stone[/strong] is very inconsistent. I gave it a shot by going for changing R11 and R42 to 10kΩ but I don’t like what it does to the sound. All dynamic headroom is lost and with humbuckers I get a dirty sound straight away. Either it’s the wrong mod for the wrong version board or it’s a bad mod. Or I made a mistake. Is there anyone here that can give me reliable infos on the matter?
I attach a picture of my PCB and which Rs i changed to what value. I have the orange block logo version which I am pretty sure is version 2.
I would consider the matter closed. I replaced the resistors with the original values and I made peace with the slight volume drop, which btw is not as severe if there’s not many pedals in the same chain. I might maybe do a true bypass later on but i really prefer the unmodded sound. At least I this time I remembered to check the pot dates: 11th week of 1977.
