Hello everyone! I’m thinking about purcahsing the nano small stone, and the nano LPB-1. I was just curious to see what other people think of those two pedals in terms of performance, or just in general. Please I’ll take anyones opinion, good or bad! Thanks guys!

The LPB-1 Nano was an impulse buy for me, and I use it very often. I also bought it cause the price and because I simply just wanted a pedal to take home. I usually have it cranked, which sounds fat and dirty. At about half way it gives the obvious boost and some dirt, which is also very nice. It also works great to bring your Fuzz/Distortion/Overdrive pedals over the top or to give them an extra push. It does nothing over the top by itself, but I’ve found it really useful. I’ve never had my hands on any of the vintage ones though, but I’m assuming you were asking about the Nano version. Anyway, I give the LPB-1 Nano several thumbs up.

I’ve got 2 lpb-1’s a nano one and a vintage one that plugs into the amp. The nano one is great for adding extra fuzz to my big muff pi and for adding a boost for a pedal with volume drop such as the Flanger Hoax (and i think i heard the small stone has volume drop but idk) it’s a pretty useful pedal . with the vintage one, it has some more overdrive than the nano, which is cool. and both used together, you get a nice overdrive sound.

Thanks, to both of you! Its cool to know it does cool stuff with the Muff, i have a black russian muff, so i’ll have to experiment with it! Awesome, well now all i gotta do is buy i guess.

Love the Nano LBP-1…..I use it last in the chain and mainly for a solo boost, but sometimes to fatten up Strat clean tones. I’ve had vintage too and they all rock. As far as reliability, the Nano is Aces!

small stone – love it!!! i’ve used a vintage one for years, then i picked up a newer one a few years ago b/c the old one started to make suspicious noises. man, i’ve used the small stone at sooo many gigs for so many different styles of music. it just makes the guitar sound luscious! funny word, eh? but it is the best word i can use to describe it. i’ve used it with my acoustic guitar and i’ve used ti with les paul and marshalls!! it makes adds sweetness without being too over the top.

the lpb-1 is also great, i have two vintage ones and I’d like to pick up a nano!

    later!

I have always been a Phase 90 kind of guy, but not for any particular reason; just what I have. I would like to try a nano stone….anyone have any comments on these? I have used LPB-1 and 2 vintage and the 2 (that’s the floor model isn’t it?) is great for gigs, but mine finally gave up the ghost after 20+ yrs.

the nano small stone is a great pedal. I think it sounds better than the ‘classic’ it’s a bit brighter and really cuts through where the classic really didn’t seem to at times.

the classic stone has a noticeable volume drop that hampers it’s usefulness on a clean guitar but actually works to it’s advantage when you’re running it before distortion – the drop serves to clean up the dirt slightly and let the ‘swoosh’ become more prominent. the nano stone fixes the drop, which makes it more useful in clean situations or if you’re running it after any dirtboxes (or if you just don’t want to lose any distortion).

ps luscious is remarkably apt when describing small stones

Oh boy, the LPB-1 has done wonders for me. I used to use it for pushing my Little Big Muff over the top with my bass. Before a distortion it boosts the gain and just a little bit of the volume. However when I put it inside my Boss LS-2 (A must for a distortion using bassist) it beheaves really weird, so I now use it AFTER the LBM, as a volume boost instead of overdrive
My only complain would be that it, by itself, fattens up your tone. It’s ok for me, since I use that as some sort of tone switch, but guitar tone purists have been let down by this fact several times before.

I use the lpb-1 as a boost for the big box ver4 small stone to remedy the volume drop. The color switch in up position is more dramatic with the big box small stones, therefore I prefer it to the Nano. That said, I’m going to get my Small Stone modded by AnalogMike/Analogman. For those of you not familiar with this mod, he adds two trim pots, one for the Volume and one for Feedback, so you can adjust them. I’m looking forward to tweaking up the feedback to make the coloring more intense.

both excellent additions to your pedal line.

the lpb-1 can be used in a variety of ways & you will never regret owning it. you may end up with two (one in your git —> amp line, another in the fx loop :freak:

the small stone is THE phaser in my humble opinion  — but — if you can find a full chassis EH4800, instead of the nano, i recommend that. the nano is a great pedal, includes the rate switch (unlike what is missing in the nano clone vs. the small clone full chassis), and is very affordable. but check out ebay & you may find a full chassis for a comparable price; i found a ’79 stone in excellent condition for less than a brand new nano. in the average shop, a full chassis doubles in price b/c of it’s rarity.

all in all, get them both. the LPB-1 especially. it’s a solo boost, light OD, can boost your clean signal when using other modulation, productive and beneficial to any setup.

    gotta love ehx…

    yeah go for the LPB-1.

I put it in front of all my pedals and it gives more definition.

    it’s like getting better pick-ups…

    now it’s always on!

the small stone looks nice but I have the Hoax, no need to tell you I don’t really need a phaser…lol!

the LBP-1 compliment the Hoax a lot by the way!!!
