Hi,
I bought a used Small Clone a few weeks ago, and I just noticed that it says Mini-Chorus instead of Full-Chorus on it. The controls look the same, so I was wondering what the difference is. Thanks very much,

January 25, 2009 at 10:13 pm #91831electro-melxModeratorwow, never seen one like that before….probably just a different graphic from a particular time I’d presume, cool find.
January 25, 2009 at 10:17 pm #91833The EH ManModeratorMy original thought was that it was called a “Full Chorus” until the Clone Theory was released. I haven’t confirmed that just yet but I’ve written down pot codes and details for several units and found Full Chorus to be the standard until about 1983, when they started being labeled with Mini-Chorus.
Also, there didn’t seem to be a cut-off date for when they switched to MN3007 delay ICs. I’ve seen MN3007 in units from 1980, 1981. and 1983. SAD1024 delay ICs showed up in units from 1981 and 1983 so it may have been a supply thing.
Nearly all units had circuit boards that could be used with either delay chip but I did see one that was MN3007 only, no provision for the SAD1024.

January 25, 2009 at 10:20 pm #91835fillthecupMemberHow curious. Well, that’s cool to find out it’s somewhat uncommon. Thanks for all of your replies!
January 25, 2009 at 10:21 pm #91836fillthecupMemberWe just posted simultaneously. More pictures are forthcoming. Thanks!
January 25, 2009 at 10:37 pm #91837fillthecupMemberThe numbers on the pot are: PO200 and 1378048. Pic attached. Thanks,

February 4, 2009 at 6:17 pm #92663The EH ManModeratorYou’ve got one of those odd MN3007-only versions from 1980. The other one like that I had info for was from 1981. Thanks for the info. I’ll add it to my list.
February 4, 2009 at 6:45 pm #92665fillthecupMemberThanks very much for taking the time to look into that. I’m glad it helped you as well by adding to your list.
Cheers,
SteveJuly 8, 2009 at 1:42 am #99001JCM800PDXMemberHey forum! I’m looking into buying a vintage Small Clone Full Chorus… what do you think a fair price would be for one? It’s definitely not in prefect condition… lots of paint chips and some rust. Thanks!
August 12, 2009 at 6:36 pm #100535Justin CaseMemberHi all… New forum user here!
Well, I own a vintage EH-4600 Small Clone FULL CHORUS unit (pot code reads: 1378022), purchased at eBay about 11 years ago for about US$100, if I recall correctly.
I had a look into my unit and it has 4 IC chips on it (all socketed), one of those being the “infamous” RETICON chip (SAD1024). Wasn’t this particular chip supposed to be found only in units from 1981 to 1983?! Or maybe mine was produced in 1981, using a pot from 1980 /Week 22?!
In comparison with the pic posted here of the MINI CHORUS unit, mine doesn’t have that green “chiclet type” capacitor on the back side of the PCB.
This unit of mine is in very good condition for its age (I would say 8/10). It just has the usual light scratches from regular use.
Pics to follow in a forthcoming post.
Thanks for reading!
